Questioning Costco as credible agency...

seaulater

Carrie booked our cruise last night. She was very nice and we saved $500.00 over the price on DCL website. We have used Costco twice before and I don't mind holding for someone to save that much money.

asking for a price from costco before telling them you want to transfer wont always get you their best price. With transfered ressies i believe the discount is off the price you originally got. When I transferred our 4 cabins, our two cat 6 rooms were at different prices since we booked them at different times, and after the costco discount, they were still at different prices.

Okay, Costco has redemption. I joined again last night and immediately called and spoke to a very friendly agent. The original price she quoted was considerably higher than what I paid. However, she remembered I said I had a reservation booked already and contacted Disney to make the transfer. We saved $524.00 on an already reasonable price for the 14-day FL to CA repositioning cruise. $45 well spent and two outta three Reps were very nice. The second girl just needed a break apparently.

Now, I just wish I could score a room credit. Unfortunately Disney Visa doesn't have an offer that extends until next year, because I certainly plan to use that card to pay it off!

Once you have an existing ressie with COSTCO the on hold time is a lot shorter. You just go through their voice mail menu to existing reserv. and it is less than 15 minutes. If you call 1st thing in the morning there is hardly any wait at all even if you don't have a reservation.
COSTCO as a rule will not give a price without a membership.

I was on hold about 10 minutes--took a little persuading with the costco rep to understand how to proceed with switching my booking but he checked and said no problem. he put me on hold for a few minutes, called disney back and said transfer was done.

NOTE: THEY WILL ASK FOR YOUR MEMBERSHIP NUMBER RIGHT AWAY!

I booked my Oct 2003 cruise w/ Costco. Right around the 90 day mark I found out that there is actually an email address that current customers can use to ask questions or change their reservation. The email address is cruise@cwctravel.com They are prompt w/ answering emails.....and no long hold waits!

I booked on 5/5 through Disney website as soon as I could get through all the technical glitches.

I have a reservation on the CA to FL transition on August 20th for a Category 6 room for 2 adults and 2 kids for $7903.

I called Costco (I am a member) and waited on hold for less than 10 minutes.

I switched my reservation and saved $654. :sunny:

The agent I worked with (Stacey) was very knowledgeable and helpful.

When I talked with Costco on Wednesday after I had booked with DCL(I was able to call and booked right after they opened them, so the price was already way better than it was a few hours/days later) to check on whether Costco could beat the price, I was told that Costco can't give the exact price until the reservation is switched, but was also told that Costco gives a % off the base price (before port charges, taxes, etc.) of the cruise and was given a much lower estimate.

Later, when I actually had the reservation for our 14 day FL to CA cruise switched from DCL to Costco the actual price was even lower than the estimate I was given on Wednesday for a savings of over $1300 for a Cat.4 family of 5(2 adult,3 children). Not only did they transfer the reservation easily between them, Costco was able to transfer the deposit I had put down for a 7 day cruise that we had had booked for two weeks earlier with no problem. Mike was professional and extremely helpful in all aspects. I recommend Costco travel to all. Yes, sometimes you have to wait to hold, but to me the savings make it more than worth it.

The total savings between being able to book very early Wednesday versus today and the Costco savings has totaled over $3000.
:hyper: ::yes:: :hyper: ::yes::

I love Costco almost as much as I love Disney cruising!!
