This may seem random and it is just a curiosity, but has anyone's Disney experience been ruined by memories of it tied to an ex? or are you able to wash that away and make new memories with your new significant other easily?

My ex is the one that got me into Disney. We went a lot when we were together. We broke up 9 months go and I wasn't sure I could watch the podcasts anymore, let alone go to WDW. It was all about him to me. But I started watching the podcasts again after a little while and then starting planning a solo trip, determined to make it my own thing. So I went in July. There were moments of sadness and of course things that brought back a lot of memories. But overall, it was an amazing trip and I made enough of my own memories to move forward. Now Disney is so much more my thing and I am going alone again in December. And moving there next year.

I think it would definitely be easier to make new memories with someone new there, than to go solo. But I'm so glad I did it!

Just the opposite. The times we took the kids she would complain and constantly comment "That sounds stupid, I don't know why you would want to do that." Now when I go solo, if one of those memories pops into my head it puts a bigger smile on my face.

Make new memories to go with your old memories. Your old memories make you who you are. Making those memories are what life is all about. Get out there and live.

In 2011 I went with my now ex-husband. I love Disney, but the trip was awkward/difficult with him. Fast forward and I am now engaged. It crossed my mind a couple times to take my fiance there, but I kept backing out thinking I would keep remembering the trip with the ex. Well the fiance and I went in August.... and it was amazing!! The way Disney should be. All those old memories were basically wiped clean and now I have the most magical memories.

Love this. It's so true.
