If you have two different contracts at the same resort but different UY. Can the points be combined to make a reservation without transfering from one contract to the next.

Thanks,

Yes, but you would need to reserve individual dates with points from one contract or the other and then MS can link them together so you won't need to move. Without a transfer, there is no way to combine points from multiple contracts for one night. MS will accommodate combining points from different contracts for use on a cruise.

This is only true when the two contracts constitute two different membership numbers. If the either pr the two contracts is an add-on of the other, then the points may be combined to make reservations - even if they are different resorts (but only at 7 months).

Could you buy a add on at OKW from Disney with the same UY even though the master contract is 42 and the add on is 57? Could the master contract and add on be combined than to use at the 11 month window or do you still have to do the transfer?

If both contracts are from the same resort and you buy the add on from Disney (who will give you the same UY as your Master), then no transfer is required to combine points at 11 months. Number of points in each contract doesn't matter.

You could also buy the second contract via resale, but even when the resale add on is for the same use year as your first contract, there is no guarantee that Disney will automatically "add" it to your first contract. You have to specifically request it - the broker should know how to do that.

If the add-on is at the same resort as the Master Contract all points in the total contract may be used interchangeably at 11 months. If the Master contract was from a different resort the points can still be combined, but only at 7 months. If the two ownerships are both part of the same contract (under one membership number) you can't transfer points between them - since they are already in the same contract.

If you have two membership numbers, same Use Year and same resort - the points would still need to be transferred to use them together at 11 months. However, as long as you use them to reserve "whole" days, you would not need to transfer the points - just reserve as many days as possible from one contract and the others with the 2nd contract and have MS link them together into one reservation.

For example, if the reservation is for early December in a 1BR at OKW - the point cost for weeknights is 16 points per night. If you want 5 nights - the total needed is 80 points. Just reserve the first 3 nights from one contract and last two nights from the other and MS will link them together and you won't need to change villas or get new keys - it will be one seamless reservation. If you don't have quite enough points from one contract to reserve those nights you can borrow from the next Use Year from that contract to complete the night's reservation. In that way, there is no need to do a transfer between contracts. If you already have this as a Master contract and add-on, the points can just be used without regard to which contract the points come from.

We do it just in that fashion for most of our stays and have never "lost" any points over the past almost 16 years. We have 3 OKW contracts - each with a different Use Year and membership number and have even used points from all three to reserve a single reservation without issue.

Thanks for the great information Carol and Doc. It seems like the best way to go is just add on through Disney if they have that UY in inverntory. Would it matter though if the master was UY June 42 and the add on UY June 57?

Thanks

No, the expiration date won't be an issue at all ... until February 1, 2042 and later! ;)
