Ok, here's the thing. We will be going to WDW for our honeymoon in Oct. 2008. We will be flying into Orlando Airport and using Disney's Magical Express. At the end of our stay we want to do a couple nights outside of Disney so we can go to Universal, go check out the beaches, etc. Now, if we are using DME how do we go about renting a car at the end of our stay? We don't want to rent a car when we first get down there because we wont be using it until the end of our stay at Disney. Any ideas? TIA!

You could try calling around in advance to have the car rented??

Oh, this may be a little nuts, but you could switch around the plan, rent the car right from MCO, go to the beaches, off property etc. then return the car to MCO after a couple day. THEN take magical express to a disney resort and back at the end of your trip??? Just a thought..

We had a similar situation during our site inspection visit. We took Magical Express to our Disney hotel and rented a car a few days later. We rented through Alamo (I think they also have Hertz) at the Disney Car Care Center. When we were ready to go pick up our car we called Alamo and about thirty minutes later an Alamo shuttle arrived at our Disney resort to take us to the Car Care Center where we picked up our rental car. It was pretty easy. Even though we rented it through Disney's Car Care Center we were able to drop it off almost right outside our terminal at MCO before our flight home. Good luck!

Thanks for all your help. If it wasn't for me wanting to get to Disney as soon as we arrive in Florida I would do the beaches, etc first. But my love for Disney is too strong to actually be in Florida & have to wait to go to Disney! So we are doing Disney first & the rest we are saving for last. I will definitely look into the Disney Car Care Center. That seems like it would be the best way to go. Thanks a lot for your help!

I am not sure if Disney adds any convienience tax/charge, but I know that you will get an Airport tax if you rent from the cars at the airport. You will save some money buy renting away from the airport.
