Hi all, I am new to the boards, and forums in general. I have a question about the start of the DISUnplugged. I have listened from January 2008 to present and just started listening from 7/25/06. That is the first podcast I find on Itunes. On this episode Pete mentions that he is filling in for a 'Gordan McAdams and Nancy Quill' So...my question: What was there before Pete and the crew? Was there a podcast with other hosts? Just a curiosity...It is hard for me to imagine anything else than the roundtable. Thanks for your help. Ben

The original podcast was more of a news show where the two hosts read stories with a little bit of banter. It was very scripted. There were only a few episodes. Really nothing to compare to the current podcast.

Prior to the round table there was another podcast for a short time. I wasn't listening to it at that time, so I don't know what it was really like. I believe it was a totally different format.

When the podcast first started, Nancy and Gordon were the voices you heard.

It had a "morning radio show" quality

We wrote everything for them and they read it. There was a bit of banter and stories about Disney.

They were very nice people, but the format wasn't very successful...ok...thats an understatement.

Shortly thereafter, Pete suggested we do the show. The ONLY two that thought this was a good idea were Pete and Bob. John, Corey and I didnt really want anything to do with it.

We had a bumpy start and learned as we went. Then after a few months, Julie joined the show.

And the rest as they say....is history.

If you read through all of the reviews on iTunes...you will see one or two talking about the old format. <shudder>

Is there anywhere we can hear the "old" podcast??????

I dont think so.

When Corey is less occupied, we can ask him if they are archived somewhere.

Yep! Bob and Pete are quite a pair aren't they! See Kevin, now your famous:rotfl: all thanks to their IMAGINATION!! :goodvibes

Nancy and Gordon sounded like they had never been to WDW. The information was good but they didn't sound like Disney fans.

Does anyone remember the Official Walt Disney World Podcast? The old verison of the DIS podcast was more professional and produced than that.

It was due to "Guest Demand" that it was changed to the round table format.:rotfl2:

I found the podcast from DAY 1, I enjoyed the early ones and was a little put off when they changed the format. It really took me a while to get used to the new format. The volume was really low and at first I had a hard time hearing it. I almost put it down and gave up on it, but I plugged away and keep going. Glad I did!! It kept getting better and better and well...is what it is now.

Does anyone know what Nancy and Gordon are doing now? Do they have there own podcast... something on Universal or SeaWorld?:rotfl:

Yeah, that was the thing that bothered me the most. It had a very "NPR" quality to it. I like it much better now. I think Pete has a much better radio voice that Gordon had.

When Corey is less occupied

So in 18 years time... :lmao:

I think Pete has a much better radio voice that Gordon had.

Never heard the old show, but think Pete's voice is the first thing that got me hooked on the podcast, something so listenable about it - kind of reminded me of Garrison Keillor when i first heard it (not sure if that's a compliment or not ;) ) who I used to love when i was a kid listening to my dad's cassettes in the car on long journeys :)

:goodvibes

Thanks for all the responses! I am enjoying listening to all the podcasts. I am listening from both ends (The earliest and the latest) I still have to listen from September 2006-November 2007. They make my thesis writing go by faster and help me look forward to a move to Orlando!
