Can anyone please answer the following on being an Aer Lingus Site member which you join at http://www.aerlingus.com/cgi-bin/obel01im1/bookonline/joinSite.do and/or flown indirect with them to Orlando?

And do Aer Lingus Site members receive special offers by email which non members can't access?

Has anyone ever had an Aer Lingus PROMO code to use on flights to Orlando.

Also, how was your indirect flight to Orlando with Aer Lingus, positive points or any problems, how did they compare to flying direct with BA or Virgin and would you book indirect again?

We're now thinking that indirect from a local airport might be the way to go in 2013 as the direct prices are still only slightly cheaper but comes with a 3-hour car journey (sometimes stressful) and the extra expense of petrol and parking.

Many thanks......

Hi

We have flown few times with Aer Lingus. It is direct for us as we live in Dublin. Planes all have seat back TV's and are fairly new. Seating is 2,4,2.
For us they are best to fly as direct but can be expensive. Am member of their site and have never got promo codes.Only do get e mail about day in advance of when they are having sale.

Any other questions just ask and will try to help...

Many thanks Irish Goofy for the info, we've nearly always flown direct to Florida from either Gatwick or Heathrow but prices at the moment seem to be staying above the £500 plus mark for April flights which makes an indirect flight from a local airport more competitive.

There's really no difference in price, in fact it might even be cheaper once parking and petrol is taken into the account.

I have a few questions please: On arrival at Orlando is it treated like an internal flight and you don't need to clear US immigration and customs as that is done in Dublin?

How strict are they with the carry on limit's, do they weight (10-kg limit) or measure bags?

It states that you can pre-book your seats, is that easy and can be done online right after you've purchased the ticket.

Do you know long will the current USA flight offer will be on for, that's the April 1st onwards offer?

Many thanks,

Samaya

Yes immigration and customs are both done in Dublin and is very easy process.Normally queues are very short and nowhere near as long as i have seen them when you do it in Orlando.

Never ever had them weigh my bags and have never seen them do it to anybody else.Did once see them tell a lady her bag was to big for overhead bin and that it would have to go into hold of the plane but in fairness to them her bag was bigger than my case so she should have expected it.

Yes when you complete booking process it is very easy to just pick your seats at the same time.I always do it straight away and is very simple.

To be honest i don't know as i have not really paid much attention to their e mails they sent me as i had already booked our flight for this year through Delta.Got good price to fly Delta via JFK.:cool1::cool1:Will try to look at my e mails later when at home and try to confirm for you.

Hope this Helps....

Many thanks,

To be fair this is exactly why we have booked indirect again this year, we flew direct from our local airport this April, but these flights are not available in the Winter Months from Birmingham so we have to do via Newark. We have done it before and it's great, we honestly like wandering through the airport, getting immigration out of the way and grabbing a bite to eat and stretching our legs. It;s also great for our kids as they are usually just getting to that restless point when by the time we are getting to Newark so they can run off some energy too.

We flew from Manchester a couple of years ago and it was lovely to go on the new Virgin plane, but on the way back DH had to drive us all home and it was exhausting for him. It's nice to grab a taxi and be tucked up in bed within 10 mins of leaving the airport I must say! :lmao:

Many thanks Irish Goofy for your answers, Virgin has now released some lower prices and also for miles plus money so we will be comparing both VA and Aer Lingus over the next week.

Have a great Christmas,
Samaya.
