I am going in June/July next year. I actually have a split stay booked and I was planning on going to Universal for 4 nights in the middle. Well I am starting to rethink that and thinking about staying at WDW the whole time. I originally planed on 10 day tickets. Now I will need an AP. I have no idea how to explain this so I am going to break it down and hopefully someone will understand.

6/22 - 6/27 AKV
6/27-7/1 MYW pkg with dinning
7/1 - 7/5 AKV

If I start with a 10 day ticket (ordered from online) then I get 6 day tickets with my package can I combine the two and upgrade to a DVC AP? I would really like the dinning plan so thats why I would book the package in the middle. Any other suggestions?

Tickets can only be exchanged 1 for 1. You can't exchange 2 tickets for 1 DVC AP. You could buy a 1 day pass with the package and save it for your next trip after the AP expires, either use it as is or exchange it then.

If your dining stay is at a DVC resort on points or member cash, you don't need to purchase a park ticket to add the dining plan, so I assume you are purchasing a package through Disney reservations?

That was my plan but I didn't know that you could purchase the dinning plan when on member cash. So if I book through MS for a cash discount at one of the DVC's then I can add dinning? Do you know if cash discounts are available at AKV yet or will they not be available until Kidani opens?

I don't know if any member cash ressies are available at AKV, yet. But remember, if member cash is for the same resort, in the same room class, the reservations will be linked, and considered one reservation...so the Dining Plan would be for all or nothing. If you change resort or room size it will be a separate reservation and able to obtain the DDP for only that portion.
