i posted a thread earlier pointing to this topic on the Budget board, but it was closed by a moderator:

DC, only 1 member per household ?s

let me try to rephrase it, because part of it is definitely a transportation related topic...

i've read a lot about the Emerald Aisle club with National, and how you can get a free membership to EA through the Disney Club.

my bf and i are going on a trip soon, so we'd like to sign up for DC asap.
however, since we are an unmarried couple, we are unsure of whose name we should put on the DC membership.

questions:

1) does National charge extra if the car rental or EA membership is in my name, but we want to put my bf down as a driver as well (or vice versa)?

2) can anyone in a similar situation as us (unmarried couple OR married couple with different last names) share how they have dealt with DC and National/EA?

If you have a Capital One credit card they are offering free EA membership to their cardholders. You might want to check out their website.

National does charge an extra charge for an extra driver is that person isn't your spouse. I believe it's either $5-10 a day. To get the fee-waived application, check the DC members only website, the number should be listed there, and they will send you the application. Also, when you use EA, the reservation isn't transferable, meaning you can't make the reservation in your name and let your BF pick up the car. I believe you have to be the one to pick up the car, and drive it out of the lot.
