Hi First Time poster here - The Better Half posts here often, but this is my first.

My wife and I are scheduled for 20th vow renewals at the end of Feb, and I am trying to come up with some neat things for us and our family to do while we are there. We have done backstage Safari, Dolphins in Depth, and a few other things...but I was thinking more along the line of the romantic stuff. Do any of the ladies out there have any suggestions for me? We have already done a spa thingy at Grand Floridian, so I'd like to try something different. Thanks in advance.

Hi and Welcome to the DIS!!

I'm not sure I can offer too many suggestions because when DH and I went down to Disney for our wedding, neither of us had ever been there before! So we were pretty enamored with just visiting the parks and hoping for "extras" next time we go! :teeth:

The only "extra" we did, was the Segway tour at Epcot. I don't think it would be considered "romantic" and you might not be able to do it depending on the number of folks in your family and their ages (the tours are for 10 people and they have to be 16 or over). But it was FUN!!!

I'm sure lots of other posters here will be able to give you LOTS of ideas! Like Wishes or Illuminations cruises...

Have fun planning your vow renewal...and make sure you come back and tell us all the details! Former brides live vicariously through those who are still planning!! :teeth:

First of all, congrats on 20 years! That's quite an accomplishment. How lovely that you are choosing to have a VR celebration.

Here are some romantic things we have done, this is our 10th year in a row going to WDW, so we have done alot! :goodvibes

1. Breathless cruise for Illuminations at Epcot

2. Grand One cruise for fireworks, you can order dinner and champagne, with a private waiter, and I also booked a violinist who played Disney love songs all night to the two of us.

3. Private Dining at the GF set up a dinner on the beach just for the two of us, delicious and very romantic.

4. We booked an Illuminations dessert party at the lower UK in Epcot, hired a photographer to take pics of us.

5. Victoria and Alberts is very romantic - I actually prefer the atmosphere in the main room to the Chefs Table, but alot of people love the Chefs Table.

6. Last year, we hired a Disney Photographer to do an MK photo session - awesome with all the holiday decorations.

7. Years ago, we had a private fireworks viewing in a roped off area just between the castle and the rose garden, but they don't do that anymore. Which is too bad, because it was awesome!

8. Walking the beach at the Poly, finding a hammock, and snuggling in to watch the fireworks is very romantic, and free.

9. If you get a large suite, Private Dining can help you create a very special event in your room - including entertainment, other than the characters, which are not allowed to go to private rooms.

We have done many many events over the years, and the bottom line is, with planning, determination, (and $), almost any Disney dream can come true.

Good luck and pixie dust,

Susy

bridegirl will all the resorts do private dining? I am trying to plan a trip next Dec for our 25th anniv. & a private dinner at the poly would be wonderful!! who do we talk to?? thanks for any info!

We have done private dining events at GF, AKL, YC and BW

So...although I haven't done Poly, I have to assume the answer is yes

The hard thing to figure out sometimes at WDW is who is the right person to help you with what you want...ie, when I was first doing an IVR and I wanted an Illumination Dessert Party, it's not FTW that you book it with, that kind of thing. Also, you sometimes have to do your own creative bending if the rules, each time I wanted a dessert party, I didn't have enough people to meet the minimums, but as long as you PAY for the minimums, Disney doesn't care how many people actually come.

Between FTW, Catering, Private Dining, Convention Services, and Park Event Sales, you can usually find someone who can help you with what you want.
