Do you need to be staying on Disney property to purchase the DP? Or can you add it to your Magic Your Way passes?

Yes, you have to stay at Disney AND you need to purchase a package which means resort and tickets.

The only exception is if you're staying at a DVC resort on DVC points -- then admission purchase is not required.
