I have never seen those and I never heard of them. You should have heard the panic in a friend's voice when I told him that I had bought an accessory for my husband's truck for Christmas. He asked me if I had bought testicles for the truck. I was like "WHAT are you talking about." Anyway it was a pretty funny conversation but not what I bought my husband.
I've seen something I found offensive just about everyday I've been at Disney. The worst were:
- An entire family that I kept encountering with matching t-shirts for everyday of their vacation. Each shirt said something cruel and homophobic -- I couldn't believe the level of hate they were teaching by giving 6 year olds hate filled shirts to wear while at WDW.
- A shirt that looked like an official Marine Corps shirt that said, "It's not my job to judge Muslims, just to kill them and deliver them to God." (I was horrified and this is the one time I actually said something to a CM about another person's clothing.
My simple question is this: If you wear a SHIRT at Disney, why do so many people feel compelled (everyday of the year) to wear shirts with vulgar/offensive expressions/art?
Seriously, if you find the red shirts on Gay Days bad, I really suggest that you open your eyes to what our society has decided is "normal" and therefore doesn't do anything to correct.
I know.
There should be a sticky (A big red sticky)
for this - So we don't have to field these questions/ comments
every other week.
Yes - your children will be either indoctrinated or eaten.
Yes - there will be fornicating in the streets.
Yes - speaking in tongues.
Please keep your arms and hands inside the ride at all times.
I've been to Gay Days twice, 2007, 2008, and the sea of red shirts was empowering...that is...until I saw many vulgar and entirely unnecessary expressions on those red shirts, most of which I am unable or unwilling to post here.
I haven't a clue why certain gays have to wear shirts with cutesy, quippy, shocking and/or double entendre expressions on them, other than to seek attention or be in your face about who they are and, seemingly more important to them, what they do.
you seem to be enjoying the shirts. Even encouraging them. Either that, or you were intentionally trying to start a controversy on the boards.
Frankly, what I haven't a clue about is why a person wearing a tacky shirt is a big deal to get worked up about "the gay community". If a person is wearing a tacky shirt, THAT PERSON is tacky. I don't judge all straight people by the clothing of the scary fat people in spandex. I also don't judge all gay people for the shirts that a few chose to wear at Gay Days.
I still maintain that in all the years I've been to Gay Days, I've seen nothing like the inappropriate behavior that a certain article indicates is "the norm". And I certainly see more groping, making out, tacky clothing, and instances of family violence on the other days that I visit the Disney parks than I do on Gay Day.
Why should we help the bigots impose a double standard on ourselves? They want to judge all of us for a few people, but don't want us to do the same. It's not fair, and we shouldn't stand for it. And we certainly shouldn't be helping them by telling other GLBT folks that they're not free to express themselves however they like.
This goes out only to those who like to sport cutesy, quippy, shocking and/or double entendre expressions on their red shirts at Disney during Gay Days.
Why is a simple, expressionless red shirt (or even perhaps one with an HP logo, or a Disney Character, or "Eat at Joe's" or "I pay taxes, too," for example) not enough?
If you prefer to wear a red shirt at Gay Days with the phrase "Team Princess" on it, for example, rather than a simple red shirt with no expression, why is that?

At first, I honestly thought you had a valid concern that you wanted to vent about, but now I can honestly say you are just hear to start trouble and vent your personal beliefs based on the sheer fact you are repeating yourself without adding value or substance based on responses. There is nothing wrong with having personal beliefs, but expecting people to follow the path of insecurity and bigotry probably won't work well for you in this forum.
So you are okay with "Eat at Joe's" but not "Team Princess". Honestly, "Team Princess" would be pretty witty in Magic Kingdom with all the other Princesses that run around on a daily basis. How about "Team Pirate", do you take offense to that too?
