Hello all,

I have a question I would like to ask, but I do not wish to offend anyone, so I will pose this tactfully. Although my family and I are staunch republicans, born and bred conservatives, I am of the belief of to each his own. Live and let live. Let them get married and be as miserable as the rest of us. I have never had problem with gays, lesbians, hand holding and even tactful PDAs. However, the article written by Mr. Pete Werner, http://www.wdwinfo.com/disney-gay-days.htm, scares the hell out of me. We are planning a trip from California, yes the peoples republic of California. Two families, one with 4 very small children will be there during that time. We really do not wish to witness, and I will quote Mr. Werner, “two queens frenching outside Cinderella castle.” So my question is; if we avoid the parks on the scheduled gay days for that particular park, will we still be overrun by such images? Again, we believe everyone has a right to and should enjoy WDW. I would like to enjoy it without the feeling of being thrust in the middle of the Castro district in San Francisco. I hope I don’t offend anyone and wish everyone enjoys WDW respectfully. Thank you.

Get the gay days schedule and just avoid the "official park of the day" and you should be fine.

I've been to many Gay days and never ever have I seen anything Mr. Werner describes in that article.

I'm sure if you look hard enough you will find some of the things he mentions....but then again, if you look hard enough you can find anything!

I'll concur. I've been to every Gay Day at the Magic Kingdom for the last 8 years, and have NEVER seen anything that is included in that biased and slanted article. I think it may be very very out of date.

Please don't let that one person's view change your plans.

Thank you both for your responses. Don't get me wrong, I was in no way thinking of changing our plans. I just don't want to be overpowered by zealots in the same way “bible thumpers” thrust their beliefs to unsuspecting patrons outside of abortion clinics. I know, extreme example, but you know what I mean. Thank you, and I think we will all have a great time.

I would take the "review" as nothing more then a piece of poorly written crap. The review is full of wholes and biased opinions, by someone who...okay I'll stop here.

Pete is basing his Gaydays rant off of experiences with pride festivals.

Just like Mardi Gras is not a good example of normal New Orleans happenings, comparing some of the over-the-top pride events and Gaydays is like comparing apples and oranges.

Quite frankly Pete's article has nothing to do with gayday and more to do with biased internalizations of a digruntled gay man. Gayday is a family event just like any other you will see at the Magic Kingdom.

Keep going!!! :thumbsup2

Every time there's a Gay Days thread that 'article' is brought up again. I'm sure the OP intended no malice but usually that article is used to bolster the view that we're all over-sexed degenerates. And anytime someone tries to support us with evidence that they have actually been to Gay Days and never experienced any of the behavior that he talks about the other side throws it in our faces. So facts don't matter but his flawed article will live forever.

Because of that article I will never use any business associated with these boards. I'm starting to consider an ABD trip in 2010 and for two people it will be fairly large amount of money. That money will go elsewhere.

OP – go and I'm sure you'll have a great time.

Just because Pete Werner is gay, and owns these boards does not make him an authority on Gay Days, or Disney. :)

Gay Days are just that, day(s) at Disney where gay people can openly share the time together with others of the community and their families coming together in fellowship and love of Disney.

I've been to many, many a gay day with no concerns for anything I've seen. If I were to warn anyone away from the parks it would be during Night of Joy. THAT's a crazy time!

You will see some shirt "saying" (most are wicked funny) but they'll probably go right over your head, and most certainly over your children's heads. (Such as, "I can't even think straight." ) :teeth:

You will definitely see same gendered couples holding hands, and maybe hugging or giving one another a kiss (exactly what you'd see any other time) but if you see any of the actions described in Pete's out of date rant, I'll be extremely surprised.

Go and enjoy your time there, and don't worry about anything other than having fun at WDW. ::yes::

If you've never been to the Magic Kingdom on the first Saturday in June, you need to try it, particularly from opening till the 3:00 parade.

The positive energy in the park that day is beyond words! :thumbsup2

Anyone else feel like we're in the movie ...
Groundhog Day?

There should be a sticky (A big red sticky)
for this - So we don't have to field these questions/ comments
every other week.

Yes - your children will be either indoctrinated or eaten.
Yes - there will be fornicating in the streets.
Yes - speaking in tongues.
Please keep your arms and hands inside the ride at all times. :flower3:

Well you know there can't be any speaking in tongues without the "handling of snakes". I need to call my pentecostal friends.

I have a question regarding Gay Days.

Why does it have to be the same weekend as my daughter's graduation:sad1:
