Hi, After reading a few threads regarding the restaurant food I have a couple of questions.....

I feel this is an ideal oppourtunity to try foods that we wouldn't generally try, say we ask to try something and possibly didn't like it would it seem rude and greedy to have something else?

Also with the children, would my 9 year old be able to order steak off the main menu and have say fries with it or add something from the kids menu?

Thanks Chucklechops

Most definitely anyone can order just about anything in the dining rooms. Take me fusspot, I had fries with any meal. I also had the children's menu chicken noodle soup as an appetizer quite often. My dh had some meals in double. If he had trouble deciding, the waiter would bring him both!!!! We had sooo much food on our tables, we waddled out of there.

I agree that this is a great time to try different foods...

Enjoy :sunny:

You are on the right track! We order what we want, what we may want, and things we want to share. Don't feel bad, and if you really aren't sure you'll like something, speak up and make sure your server knows you may want something else. They will probably just order you 2 things at the start. This is an ideal opportunity to try anything and everything!! (Escargot anyone?!?!) :guilty:

And in regards to the 9yo, again, anything goes! We had a 17yo at our table last May that didn't even order after the first night. He told them how he wanted his plain steak cooked, and an order of french fries. Every night, they bought him the same thing!!! :rotfl: He was one happy cruiser!!!! :teeth:

Enjoy your cruise! Kelli

Wow That was quick, Thankyou so much for your replys, I am definately feeling better about not being a pain at mealtimes and also not seeming like a piglet :rotfl:

Don't forget, it can work the other way - we can order off the kid's menu. How else are we going to get the Mickey Mouse pancakes and Mickey Mouse ice cream bars? :mickeybar

Yep, trying what you want..lol, The name of the game. The servers have no problem with it. Some nights hubby and I ordered multiple appetizers, desserts, etc, just to try them.

DH couldn't decide what he wanted the night we were in AP last December, so he said to our server "Bring me what YOU would have". Yup...he got one of everything...appetizer, soup, salad, dessert...we had quite a dinner that night!

Holy cow!!! I'll never say that......... :rotfl: Bet you got some great conversation out of that!!!

Trying new foods and meeting new friends are two of the best things about cruising (the other major ones being: someone else is cooking and cleaning, you're out in the ocean on a beautiful ship in usually beautiful weather and you only have to unpack once-when you arrive on the ship). :cloud9: :cloud9:

Back on topic. New food: you can try EVERYTHING with out the worry about how to pay for it all - since you already have. If you don't like something you ordered - order something else - they'll get it for you in a jiffy.

One thing that I'm looking forward to on the next cruise: White Chocolate Covered Domes (I've had them already  ) They are offered in Lumiere's. I'm ordering them there AND in Parrot Cay (since there kitchens are next to each other). Then I'll see if the "Magically" appear at Animators Palete (assuming we start in PC like we have on the last several cruises).

Be adventurous. Try new things. Enjoy your meals. Take the stairs everywhere (not the elevators) so that you work off some of that wonderful food so you can "reload" again. Ain't gluttony grand!

This thread is killing my diet..... :sad2:
I am at work starving, and I think I will order just about anything, cause all I have on my mind is food, food food.......

On my last cruise, someone in our group did not like what they ordered. Our waiter said to time him, he would be back in less then 2 minutes with something else. Sure enough, he was.

However, I like the idea of ordering it all and sharing it. I think I may have to try that on our West Coast Cruise in June.

You will definitely get to try an assortment of food in Palo. Sasha brought us several extra appetizers, an extra entre to share, and an extra desert. :) YUMMY!

It is quite the norm to order as many of whatever you would like. Our 7yo ordered steak off the adult menu every night! Have fun!
