I am curious to know if there is an "off" season time of year to go to Disneyland? I know we usually plan our Disney World trips in early February because of low crowds etc., but didn't know if it were different at Disneyland. You thoughts would be appreciated.

The lowest crowds are January and February at DL. During the week, you can just about walk on to any ride.

I agree January and February are best; although when we went in Feb on year, many attractions were closed for maintenance.

I think it's the locals that make the park so crowded all the time. I used to live in that area, and we'd pop into Disneyland all year long for the day or even a few hours.

I agree with Jan/Feb or Sept/Oct. But ANY Saturday of the year is crowded, due to the locals. We used to love to go for a weekend in either October or November, back when we lived in N. California.

Sigh.....although I was very lucky to just get treated to WDW by my parents, I want to go to DL to see all the 50th hoopla! DH is sick of me talking about Disney for vacations though, so I guess I'll let it go.

I dont know the off season but I do know that I would recomend going on the week days and not the weekends because thats when all the locals go.

Can someone tell me what the weather is like in January and February?

I lived in San Diego for 6 months once, April-Oct, so I have no idea what Jan/Feb weather is like. Also, do they have the theme hotels they have in FL?

::yes:: We have been twice in September and last February. During the middle of the week, for us, it wasn't too crowded and we walked on rides. The weekends seemed to be really busy, I thought starting Thurdsay afternoon.

January is nice, February it rains. But I think the February rain started in Jan last year. Fall would be better weather-wise. Or very early Jan.

I remember running with the baby stroller in a torrential downpour in February at DL and side blowing wind - and not the warm rain like at WDW. It chilled to the bone.

We have been in late September, early October which was a great time. The weather was nice and the crowds relatively light (except the weekends). Another time we had success with was early December. Plus, all the Christmas decorations are up at that time.

They used to have a deal for CA residents in October because early in the month it was always slow.

We went in March and the crowds weren't bad - except for Saturday. A nightmare - I wouldn't go on a Saturday at ANY time of the year. For some reason, all the lowest of the low class morons come on Saturday. Maybe they have a 2 for 1 deal for local idiots on Saturdays, I don't know. ;)

What I noticed is that during the slow times on the weekends, they draw in large, organized groups to fill up the numbers. The weekend I was there they had Orange County Gay Days on Saturday. From the size of the crowd and the sayings on their t-shirts, it appeared they traveled from all over the country for the event. Then the next day there were crowds from some sort of 10K fundraiser event at DD, plus spillover from the previous Gay Days, plus the locals that showed up.

Mind you, I don't like crowds, but actually, it could have been a lot worse. At least the OCGD was a jovial, fun group. I especially enjoyed the group of guys with their princess hats :wizard: on.
