Hello. Not sure if this is where I should put this.... I just received my member newsletter and saw that DVC has the Atlantis resort back on their list through 2006. (not that we would be able to go)... but I see they list the different towers at the resort. Does anyone know if they are just giving basic rooms or can you also get a suite?

Thanks.

I have no clue what you get when you trade for this resort, but I can tell you about the resort in general. We stayed there in Oct. 2000 (not on DVC points). We booked into the mid-range "Coral Towers," but we were upgraded to the "Royal Towers" and then to a Jr. Suite from there. The Jr. Suite didn't seem much bigger than a regular hotel room to us, but again we had nothing to compare it to regarding other Atlantis hotel rooms. The bottom hotel tower at Atlantis is called the Beach Tower. It was closed for refurbishment (or something) when we were there, but from the looks of it it was the farthest away from everything walking-wise. The Royal Towers was definitely the nicest building by far.

I am not sure what the trade is either but you are right. The Beach Towers are further awa but closer to the lazy river etc. Each section has it's own unique perk. The Royal tower is the newest section. I also know that the Coral Towers contain the conference centers and the ballroom etc. The restaurants are spread throughout. The gardens are so nice for walks it doesnt matter which tower you stay in. They all contain some kind of pool also but the main pool with the slides is closed to the Royal Towers.

Thank you. I did go on to the Atlantis site to see where all the "towers" are. I agree, Royal is best...I also looked at the DVC point chart... I have a feeling you will get a basic room with those points.
Just curious but I would definitely love to go there on points or not!

Just curious as we really want to use points to go there, do they have internal buses to take you from area to area or do you have to walk it? If you walk, does anyone know if you stay at the Beach Towers, how long a walk it is to the Large main pyramid slide? Thanks!! :flower:

I don't remember seeing any buses between the towers. Even from the Beach Towers to the pyramid pool, it's not such a long walk that you'd need a bus.

It's about a 10 minute walk from the Beach Tower lobby to the Pyramid slide, but it's a little quicker if you follow the trail thru the pool area.

It's nice to see the Atlantis added to the Concierge Collection, but I want DVC to add Harborside at Atlantis to the II trade list. Harborside Phase 2 is now complete and that doubles the amount of units available. The resort is great, and you get full privileges at the Atlantis (pools, beach, transport). It also has it's own pool and a great little bar overlooking the harbor.

Thanks for the replies. A 10 minute walk is not bad at all. It does not sound as spread out as the maps looks. Thanks again! :flower:

Booking through DVC gets you the std room in whichever tower you choose. The point value isn't that bad. I called 2 months ago about a summer stay and the rate was $429 nt. + and additional $45 nt for kids over 10.

DVC was 50 ppn + 7 ppn for kids over 10.

We ended up booking a week using points at the beach towers. We love the ocean and I heard the beach towers were recently rennovated.

Wife and I stayed at Atlantis 3 years ago, and stayed in the
Beach Towers, basic hotel room, but overlooked the ocean! A nice place to go (we went in Oct), and don't believe everything you hear about this resort, the walks are not that long, we tried 4 pools in 3 days, there are 11 POOLS at this resort. Also, don't believe about the bad service, we had great service.

Any questions pm me, I can fill you in. All in all I would rate it a 9..

NOW, is it worthy of DVC pts?? Now that is another question.. Doubt it..
Try to get a package out of your Sunday newspaper, that is what we did...

Good luck!!!

opinions: go to www.tripadvisor.com (again, don't believe all of it).

P.S. Expensive food? We did the food add-on when we booked it...

We went to the Atlantis just 3 months ago and it was GORGEOUS!! We stayed in the Coral Towers, which is between the Beach Tower and the Royal Towers. Honestly, the walk is really not that bad at all between towers, especially if you walk outside in the lush, tropical surroundings. We were there for a week, and we NEVER in any hurry to rush things!!! We ate dinner in all of the towers. The casino is between the Royal Towers and the Coral Towers, but the walk from the Beach Tower to the casino is about 5 minutes!! All of the Towers are connected from the inside as well. Yes, it is a big resort, but aren't we all used to walking around the parks??!! The pyramid "slides" (there are 4 in the pyramid) are about a 10-12 minute walk from the Beach Towers. Trust me, you will spend some of your time around all of the towers, they all have different things to see and do!! There is a great pool at the Beach towers and between the Beach Towers and the Coral Towers there are a couple of great short, fast slides, and that is also where the Lazy River is. We spent a lot of time on this side of the resort. There is just so much to do at this resort that it really doesn't matter which Tower you are in!! We were rarely even in our room. It is really very difficult to describe how beautiful it is with all of the lagoons, and lush tropics! Can you tell we had a wonderful time??!!!! I am very happy that this is now on the DVC list!! Any other questions, just ask, we were all over the resort!(including the AWESOME trip to the Dolphin excursion!!) :flower: :flower:

We stayed in the Royal Towers last week. I did not use my DVC points as this would have been almost 3 times as expensive as the discounted cash paid for our 5 day stay.
We stayed there also 3 yrs ago and I still think it is a beautiful resort,
although extremely expensive.
It is best to get the meal plan especially if you plan on eating dinnner in the restaurants. The cheapest buffet restaurant Seagrapes in the Beach Towers is $34 per adult, the most expensive buffet restaurant Marketplace in Royal Towers is $44 per adult. The meal plan gives you the buffet breakfast and a light lunch with the dinner for $65 per adult or $35 per child per day. Plus 15% gratuity automatically added. The restaurants are limited but an adequate number are available to choose from.
There is so much to do at the resort, apart from relaxing. There are also quite a few other off site activities which can be arranged such as the Dolphin swim for $165ppp much less than in Florida.

My daughter spent every morning session at the Discovery Channel camp (which IMO is one of the best hotel camps for kids). She also got lunch there for $12.50 which included the camp hour,.
There are many pools, an extensive beach and the man made beach with calmer waters and little fish.
The aquarium is awsome.
Apart from some issues I had with my room and a totally unhelpful checkin rep the manager eventually switched us to another room facing the pools and ocean.
Be aware they they are building a new set of towers positioned between the Ocean and Royal towers so if you get a room on the odd numbered side of the West Royal Towers you'll have a view of the construction site- as well as the port where the ships dock.
IMO I would not spend my valuable DVC points to stay here, unless it was a use them or lose them situation. My DVC points are selfishly reserved for Disney only.

are there any smoke free areas of the casino? I didn't see anything about this on their site.

Thanks for all the info.... I guess you are right about using the DVC points... I was just curious if the points are for a basic room or a suite... looking at how many points, I would say it's probably a basic room... but I would love to go sometime!

I see you are from NY... where about? We are from Staten Island...living here in PA for just about 2 years.

Hi
the points are just for the water view rooms unfortunately.

I did get a chance to see inside one of the other types of rooms- I think it was a suite- they're actually placed at the corners of the building in the West wing of the Royal towers. They were huge, a large living room almost twice the size of the reguar room, formal dining table, sink for drinks etc, huge king size bed and the bathroom was huge with double sinks separate shower stall and large bath tub, with a wall to wall window. Very nice.

We're from Riverdale in the City.

Anyone going to the Atlantis, take the free tour of their timeshare Harborside at Atlantis. This resort might be in the DVC-II system in the near future. You'll see the kiosks for it in all the lobbies.
