Question re: WDW License Plate Lanyard Pins

I'm a little slow on the uptake I know, but I just stumbled across these on ebay. I checked out the whole series on Pinpics, and would like to collect them all. There was a note on the Pinpics listing that there was some trouble with the paint flaking. Then, on the only "I Love Mickey" plate pin I could find on ebay, the seller mentions that every Mickey plate pin he/she had seen had flaking.

Anyone know if it's possible to find one without flaking, or is it inevitable with these pins? TIA!

When I was there in May 2002, I was able to get 2 Mickey plates. One had some flaking and one was perfect. It is possible but rare. I think I heard that WDW (or the pin maker) changed the process of the plate pins so the latter ones don't flake.

Thanks for the info. It *is* a neat set, isn't it? I've managed to pick up a few today on ebay, and I'll just keep looking for a "good" Mickey.

Here's a hint for all of you with those "flaky" pins.
I bought a green sharpie marker and just went over the flaking areas with the pen. Make sure you buy the fine point. My pins look like new.
Since I am keeping the license pins that I color I figure it won't de-value my pins, since they are valuable enough to me.
