Hi,

I'm thinking of booking V&A's as a post-wedding meal and wondered if someone could help me.

I've read some reviews, but is it a set menu or can you choose? We won't be doing the Chef's table just the standard dining.

Also, we don't drink but my parents do so could we have 1 reservation for 4 people but a wine pairing for just 2?

Thanks

It is a fixed price but you choose your courses from a menu. There are about three choices per course.

And you can order as many wine pairings as you want.

Brilliant, thank you for the info.

Do you think it is worth the money?

ok - I am jealous because I've only been there once, but I agree that it's worth the money.

I hope you enjoy your post-wedding meal there!

We eat at V&A every trip and it's so good. Warning for newbies though. Be careful not to fill up on the bread. The bread is amazing and the courses are small so you think you can handle the bread but you will be STUFFED by the 4th course.

Also, DH and I split the wine pairings. It's a lot of wine for one person so we share each glass. I learned that after the first time when I can barely remember past the fish course. :rotfl:

Here is a menu from a few months ago. Each person gets a choice for each course. There will be changes from that one to the current, but it does give you an idea of the range of choices.

And if you get the wine pairings, what you get for each course will vary by what is ordered for the course.

It is very normal for a family to have each member order different items and share them, so everyone gets a chance to try everything. And I have seen people share the wine pairingsas you will get a normal 5oz pour for each course.

LOVE V&A. Go every trip....4 times and counting. And do the wine pairing every time while DH does it on and off, depending on his mood. For me, the wine really makes it. Your parents will love it if they even remotely like wine. I think this is a perfect choice for a post wedding dinner!!! How perfectly romantic!!! Be sure to tell them the occassion when booking!!

Victoria & Albert's is one of the finest restaurants in all of Central Florida -- not just WDW -- and is the only one that still requires gentlemen to wear jackets. The food is exquisite -- the chef, Scott Hunnel, was recently named Culinary Professional of the Year by Sante Magazine. Hunnel prepares his menu by what is fresh and in season. Still, you will always have a choice among the various courses. (Some choices, it should be noted, carry a surcharge over the prix fixe -- Kobe beef or a more expensive fish, for instance.)
The wine pairing will not be an issue if only some at the table want to experience it.
Have a wonderful time.

Thank you to the person who suggested sharing the wine pairings. I never really thought about doing that. When we dined at the Chef's Table at V&A's we each did the pairing. It was absolutely amazing. I have never had wine paired so perfectly and it enhanced the meal greatly. However, after the 10th glass or so, I was pretty numb. :)

I believe that the regular dining room offers six courses. If you want to take a look at some more sample menus, click here. As has already been mentioned, these are just samples. The actual menu changes nightly.

I'd been told several months ago that V&A will call a couple of days before the reservation and ask about likes/dislikes. Is this true? Or should I call and tell them, for example, that d doesn't eat fish and I'm allergic to crab?

Yes. This is correct.

And that would be the best time to discuss the no-fish and the crab allergy. It will give them time to consider adjustments for you.

But also, when you are seated be sure to remind the servers of the problems just to make sure the information did properly get to the kitchen.

For us, they didn't call until the day of. So, you have to be careful or you might miss their call/message.

We just returned Wednesday from getting married at Disney and honeymooning there as well. We had dinner at V&A the night after our wedding, and it was by far the best part of our trip. Well except the wedding I guess, but its a close call:rotfl: We also did the wine pairings, and they were fantastic. Also keep in mind they have a vegetarian menu that is available as well, and you can mix some courses from the regular menu, some from vegetarian. My wife did this and was glad she did because she had a mushroom and truffle dish from the vegetarian menu that was fantastic.

We felt it was most definitely worth the money, and we walked away agreeing that every even year anniversary we are going to return:thumbsup2

My DD & I had dinner in the regular dining room the night before her WDW wedding. They called us prior to leaving for Florida & asked about food preferences/allergies & if this was a special occassion. When we arrived, we were given personalized menus. Her's said "for Melissa in honor of her upcoming wedding" & didn't have scallops - which she hates- on the menu. Mine said "in honor of your daughter's upcoming wedding." Scallops were offered on mine. After we ordered, the waiter took the menus "so they won't get dirty" & brought them back for us to keep after we were finished eating. We also shared a wine pairing. We didn't think it would look good at the wedding if the bride & mother-of-the-bride whowed up at the wedding with a hang-over. V & A is wonderful & I would highly reconmmend it for your after wedding dinner.
