Question re making reservations in another member's name

I've got a co-worker who owns at BCV who would be willing to make a reservation for us at the 11-month window with points transferred from our account (we are so-to-be owners at OKW), but thought that he could only make an 'early' reservation in his own name, and no one else's. From what I've read here, I thought a member could make a reservation in anyone's name. Which is correct? Thanks in advance.

He can make a ressie for you under his membership in your name. It's as though they are his pts (technically once you transfer him the pts they are his) and he now retains complete and total control over the ressie but will put your name on the ressie. So yes, anyone can make a ressie for anyone else but the member whose acct. is booking the pts retains control and can cancel or make changes at any time to the ressie at will.

You state that he will make a reservation for you at the 11-month window with your OKW points, but my understanding is that if you transfer OKW points to his account, they stay OKW points and cannot be used to make a reservation at BCV at the 11-month window. At the 11-month point, he would have to use his own BCV points for the reservation. You could reimburse him with OKW points that he could use for some other reservation, but they couldn't be used in the way you describe.

LisaS - that's the "official" stance, but that doesn't seem to be the way it actually works. We own at VWL and my in-laws own at OKW. We transferred some of our 2005 points to them so they had enough to book a GV at OKW at the 11 month window. Even though half of the points they used to make the reservation were originally our VWL points, they were still allowed to make the reservation at 11 months out.

Someone (I think here on the boards) told me that once the points are transferred into someone else's account they can't really keep track of what the original resort was, just what the use year is. I don't know if that's true or not, but it did work out for us!

MrsM, I believe you are correct. I'm new to DVC and still learning, but I had read about this limitation in MS's system that you are referring to in this thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=491988

In that post, disneyberry states:
MS's systems have a hard time tracking the Home Resort attribute. This means that if you own OKW, and had someone transfer BCV points to you, the points would take on your Home Resort and "become" OKW points. This glitch is supposedly being fixed "soon", but it has been years and still the glitch exists. It can work for you or against you depending on where you want the 11mo booking window.
So, things may turn out the way the OP would like and they will manage to turn OKW points into BCV points and get around having to wait until the 7 month mark to make a reservation at BCV. But there is always the possibility that one of these days MS will actually update their system and this loop hole will close. So there is a certain amount of risk in doing this, especially since, if I understand correctly about transferring points, once BikeFan has transferred these points to his co-worker, they cannot be transferred back to BikeFan's account if for some reason the co-worker is not able to make the BCV reservation with those OKW points.
