Question re Gatwick drop-off

Hi, I read on here a little while back that there were restrictions with dropping off and collecting passeners at Gatwick ariport due to the incident at Glasgow. Typically, I can't find the thread! I can't find any info on the Gatwick Airport site.

Has anyone been to Gatwick recently - are there any restrictions still in place? Our friend is dropping us off on Friday and collecting us when we come back.

Any info gratefully received!

I'd like to know the answer to this too as we have booked the valet parking with the drop off at the South terminal (too late booking for the normal car parks!).

Hi, from what I remember of the other thread the Departures section was off-limits and all passengers needed to be dropped at the Arrivals section.

The valet parking we used last year (not sure if you've done it before) gave us directions to the bus stops at the lower level (Arrivals) and there is a section under the bridge where you pull in. We saw quite a few other valet companies too, but I know some of them use the upper level.

It would be worth contacting the valet company direct as I'm sure they will know if there are any restrictions.

Thanks - I know it is the lower section but I wasn't sure if they were forbidden too. I'll see if I can find a contact number for them - one of the downsides of Internet booking!

Car park shuttles were not prevented from dropping off, only cars and minicabs (not sure about black cabs). Try the BAA site

We went to Gatwick North in the Summer and we were dropped off outside the short stay car park no problem. They have put concrete blocks on the pavement jsut outside the entrance but cars can still drop off on the ramp area that splits the short stay to the terminal.

Yep, tried the BAA site and there is no info. We will be dropped off by private car which is what our concern was.

I've just called the number on the BAA site and there is a recorded message that says passengers can be dropped off at both terminals and to follow the signs for Lower Coach parking.

Thank you so much! I actually have the good grace to be embarrassed that I didn't see that on the BAA site - it's not like it was hidden away somewhere. It was on the bl**dy page I was looking at!

Looks like I'm with the official car valet as I booked via BAA and can still get there - just found the map following Obi's link!
