Everyone! I just read about the new changes with FP. I'm kind of confused and hope somebody could help me.

On my MDE account, we have existing ten-day non-expiration passes. We are not using them, as we are saving them for a rainy day. Every year we go, we purchase new tickets. What I want to know is, do I have to buy my new tickets, the ones I'm using for my upcoming trip, before making fast passes now? Thank you!!

As I understand it, you have valid tickets, so you can make FP using those entitlements. What you CANNOT do, is make one set of FP with those entitlements, then buy more tickets, and make additional FP with those tickets. Only tickets used for admission that day can have valid FP attached to them.

I think you just have to make sure your new tickets are "first priority" in your MDE before you scan into a park so that they system knows which one you want deducted from.

Oh wow, I never knew that was even possible!
Ok, thank you so much for clearing that up! We didn't want to run into any issues while on our trip. I appreciate your time!

Yeah, we have to do that every year! My husband wants to hold onto those non-expiration tickets as long as he can! LOL Thank you for your response!

Our DS has a partially used no expiration ticket. This trip, he got an annual pass. We ask for the AP to take priority. It worked fine. You can check online with the usage. DS still has the 3 days left.

Thank you! We do that every year, just reset the priority and use the new tickets - but I was just confused with the new rules as to whether or not I had to buy the new tickets before my FP's were made (since we wouldn't be using the existing tickets this trip).

Because both the old and new tickets are linked to the same people in mde it's fine as the fp are truly linked to the profile not the ticket. If your tickets were linked to wife2 and husband2 then they would be on separate profiles and you could have issues.

Great to know! Thank you! I'm happy I don't have to rush to buy them!

Could someone explain to me how the new changes work? I tried finding a thread for this but had no luck. Thanks.

I always double check my ticket priority settings. My son has 3 days left on a 10 day no expire, and I have multiple tickets (CM). They can sometimes check it at the hotel concierge desk.

If you book a trip onsite, order (or decline) your magic bands, make meal plans at 180 days (+ 10), make 3 FP+ at 60 days, enter the park using those (or others assigned to just you) magic bands, there is no change. The changes only effect people using multiple bands (some with no tickets attached), or bands belonging to friends and family NOT IN THE PARK that day, more than one MDE account, etc. For the average guest, nothing has changed, they get 3 FP+ beforehand, and can get a 4th, 5th, etc after using those 3 at a kiosk or by MDE on the phone app, one by one.

It sounds like it only applies to those who try to cheat/break the rules? So, I have an old magic band, 2yrs, and I have a hard ticket. Can I still use my MB or the hard ticket, just in case the MB no longer works?

Either one. MB should still work, but I would bring the card as well.

The changes effect people who were working with and working around the system to their benefit. Clearly the intention of advance FP+ was 3 per day per person, with additional ones available at the park. Apparently individuals and local "tour groups" were finding ways to obtain more than 3.

But for most of us, there is no change to worry about.

That's what I thought but since I"ve never tried to outwit the system, I wasn't sure exactly how people do this, and how it would affect me. Thanks.

The change means that you will only be able to use a fp+ if you entered the park with the ticket associated with that fp+. It means that you will no longer be able to use a fp that is associated with a ticket that wasn't used to enter the park. An example of this would be that grandma decided not to go to the park that day because her feet hurt. Little Johnny won't be able to use her fp+ for Space Mountain because her ticket wasn't used for park entry.

I think you would only get hung up (under the new enforcement) if your two sets of tickets were on different profiles in your mde. Ie: each person in your family had 2 profiles. As long as your two sets of tickets are attaced to the same 1 person, Disney knows you are not trying to sneak extra FP's. You are still only trying to get 3 per person per day using a legitimate ticket entitlement with no funny business. Seems highly unlikely they would take issue with this.

If you have multiple tickets in your account, can you set the priority via MDE (app or online) or does it have to be at a ticket window/in person?

With existing non-expiration tickets .. you can basically go into MDE any time you want and make Fast Passes for 0-30 days from that day.
Great for planning a last-minute trip. :).
I have non-expiration tickets. .for example . .I can make Fast Passes for July 9th today .. pretty much everything is available except Flight of Passage at AK.

IF I happen to get a resort reservation I can use those tickets to make 60 day FPs.
I can then buy tickets later and prioritize using the new ones instead of the old ones. My Fast Passes won't change .. my fast passes are linked to my MDE account, not the tickets.

I am going to always have a ticket in my MDE account to have that flexibility :).

Suggestion:
I would only use the non-expiration tickets for trips of 3 days or less. You get a lot better value out of them that way. I've used 6 of my 10 days (purchased in 2014) on 3 trips of 2 days each.

It is cheaper (per day) to buy new tickets if I am going on a trip of 4+ days, so I am going to do what you are doing and save the remaining days of non-expiration tickets if I go on a longer trip.

Thank you both very much! I appreciate your time! I understand now. Just didn't want any issues!
