We are buying annual passes when we go to SSR for our first trip home in April FINALLY!! (We bought in Dec 2005).

We are planning to go again in March/April 08 as well. If we cannot go and a relative goes for us, will they be able to use our APs for park Admission?

Thanks!

Jess

No.

Disney admission passes are not transferrable. Annual Passes have the users name on them and may not be used by any other person. All tickets are tied to the biometrics of the user.

The Mouse frowns upon this.

Makes you wonder if Disney will ever follow Universal's lead and put pictures on the passes?

No. The first time you use your annual pass, your finger will be scanned and measured at the gate. Every time the pass is used after that, your finger will be scanned again. If it doesn't match that first measurement, it will be rejected.

and then you will be asked to show your drivers license and it should match the name on the pass, if they match, your finger will be rescanned and you will be allowed to enter. If they don't match the pass will be confiscated.

A long time ago, Disney DID have pictures on their passes. It worked out to be a long wait to get the pictures taken. They stopped doing pictures when they put the biometrics in.
With pictures, it would be possible to have someone else use your pass (unless the CMs are very good at comparing pictures with the face using the pass). With biometrics, the identification part of using the pass is automated.

Disnayland still does have picture ids. We have our first and possibly last DL APs right now.

Speaking of which, the AP newsletter for DL is a beautiful glossy magazine style which we have gotten without fail this year. Big difference from the WDW AP newsletter.

This is why the Disboards is such a good thing.

Sombody asks a question, a bunch of us see the post and go WOW! but manage to give a good response (I'm glad the OP didn't post this over on the community board-you would have been hammered), and the OP avoids possibly a VERY expensive lesson.

That's definitely the highest and best use of the boards; bravo, people!

Now you got your answer, hope you have a great vacation.

Thanks all. I did not want to break any rules.

What would have happened on the Community boards if I had posted? sorry but I have not posted much since we were originally looking to purchase as we were not planning to go for awhile...

Oh, man, the CB. Enter at your own peril. ;) They can get pretty cutthroat over there.

Bear with me, being a relative newbi and all... What is the Community Board? How does it differ from this one?

The DIS Community Board is here on the DIS, and is basically an open forum for almost any subject, where people offer their opinions (whether you ask them to or not ;) ) and some of posters tend to turn most any subject into a hot debate. Much like the subjects of occupancy and smoking here on the DVC boards :lmao:

There used to be a Debate Board that got really heated. So heated that they removed the entire board. Now, the Community Board takes that load, but not as bad since no one wants to get banned from the DIS.

I think the DVC specific area has mostly people who need answers to questions, have answers FOR questions, or are looking for new info about the DVC or Disney in general.

The community boards, um, well, after I lurked and lurked and lurked for a while; was that they were posting more for a need to feel connected, or to feel better about themselves, or to lash out with no repercussions.

Not so much about Disney, and in a lot of cases, very UN "what would walt do" behavior.

I think I posted once or twice over there, but I don't feel very comfortable with it.

I like the DVC area, I find I can never learn enough, and the questions are better answered.
