As I have not flown since the new changes have taken place. Are children 9 years of age required to have ID?

The Southwest site indicates that it is required for a "childs fare", but my 9 year old is flying on an "adult fare".

Any answers would be appreciated.:flower3:

The TSA only requires IDs for those over 18 years.

Southwest only required ID for lap babies or children using child fares.

Since neither apply to your son, you don't need an ID for him.

OK...I did see on another post that kids don't HAVE to have ID...has anyone had any issues with their child/children NOT having a birth certificate?

We have flown many times with our children (now 10 and 8) and we have not needed to have an ID for them. The TSA agent will sometimes ask them their name while looking at the boarding passes, but that's about it.

I believe SW would require proof of age if you had booked the child's fare, but since you didn't it won't be required. The child's fare is a discount off of one of the higher fare categories... but generally the "wanna get away" fare is less expensive, so most people will book the adult fare in that category for their kids.

Thank you Ksc37...that also answers my question. I really appreciate the speedy replies!!!:thumbsup2
