I'm going to be crashing a few days of my parents vacation in a few weeks. They're getting the deluxe dining plan, and on nights I am with them my mother wants to split two meals between the three of us, so use two credits for three people. I am not going to be on the deluxe DDP but they also won't be trying to actually use an extra credit for me. I've been scouring the internet for some answers on this one, but it seems to fall into a weird grey area.

So my questions are is this against the rules and, assuming it isn't, has anyone done something similar before? Please note we would NOT be doing this at a buffet/all you can eat. That I know is against the rules!

Any help would be immensely appreciated!! :)

A server would check Dining Plan status at the table. Your parents' plan would indicate 2 Adults. For this situation, Disney Dining Plan rules would dis-allow plate-sharing, as it involves DP holders sharing with non-DP guests. You would not be allowed to share. FYI, if you all had DP, and you wanted to plate-share, or order less meals than the number of guests at the table, that would be allowed.

This is really good info! Thank you. I was really worried about the amount of food we would be ordering vs. what we would be able to eat in the heat of summer.

They are not supposed to use their dining credits to provide you with your meals. I believe that goes for whether they actually use an additional credit for you, or whether they spend their credit allotment and share meals with you in a situation where you don't intend to order anything yourself. I know at Via Napoli you will not be allowed to share with them. Everywhere else, it might work or it might not.

note that the current policy at Via Napoli is that even if all of you had the dining plan you would not be allowed to share credits.

A little OT, but if you are not on their reservation, you won't get EMH or be able to use ME, either.
