Have never tried to book more than 1 resort at once so here goes....
We own at AKV's and know we should have that as a back up.....

Here's an example:
we have 160 points each use year...
we book AKV 11 months out using 160 points, have a ressie #.
we really want to stay at WLV however so we wait till 7 months out and attempt to book there for the same dates as our AKV ressie.

How is this done?

How can you use the points if technically they are already used for AKV's????
I guess I just need to be directed correctly....

Thank you

you can't.

MS will tell you there is availability at 7 months, and you can either choose to book the room if available or waitlist if not.

if available, they will cancel your current reservation before they can book the new room at VWL.

i've heard varying stories whether or not MS can "hold" the new reservation prior to canceling your old one or not. in the past, it was better to have enough pts to hold both reservations to avoid risking that the new reservation would be taken by someone else while MS was canceling your old one. it did happen on rare occasions. but supposedly now they can take the new reservation out of inventory prior to applying your pts to it, which eliminates the risk.

so in the alternative, do you try to waitilist both then and not book either???
kind of confused here

Book AKV 11 months out so you are guaranteed a place to stay because there is no guarantee that VWL will be available at 7 months. If you WL for VWL and it comes through, MS does the switch and I've never heard of anyone losing out when that happens. Perhaps they process the waiting list after hours to eliminate that problem. If VWL is available when you call at 7 months and they use their normal reservation software during normal operating hours to cancel your AKV reservation and book your VWL reservation, there is a minute or so in which you have no reservation. If during that time your released AKV reservation is snapped up and the last VWL room is also taken, you will end up with no reservation at all.
