Can I use points from my 2005 use year toward a trip in 2006?

If you bank them by your banking deadline!

Contact your guide (or dvcmember.com) for details, but basically you have 5 months after your use year month to bank 100%, 8 months to bank 50%, and 10 months to bank 25%.

Example: if June is your use year, you can bank 100% by November 30, 50% by February 28, 25% by March 31.

banking may not be needed, depending on the use year of those points and the date of travel.

Example You have a June use year, that means you can travel through the end of May 2006 on those points.

Here is the scoop -My use year is Feb. So, I am planning on calling this week to book a trip using my Feb 06 and Feb 07 points for my trip in June of 2006. But, I am 12 points short, so I am buying them from someone else who is transferring them into my account.

Does it matter what use year this persons points are in? I just don't want to buy them, and then not be able to use them. Does this make sense?

The points must be available for use at the time of your booking. That means they need to be from Aug, Sept, or Oct. Since they are transferred, they must be current (you can't transfer banked or borrowed points, although you can make a booking against for someone else!).

Just ask that MS transfers the points into your Feb06 Use Year- they will be good for your June, 2006 trip. Since transferred points may be banked, you can bank those points into 2006- but since you are near the end of your banking deadlines for a Feb Use Year- just have them transferred into your February 2006 Use Year and you'll be fine.
