Hi, first post to this board:)
My mom fractured her pelvis and is going to need a bathtub bench...sounds like she sits on it just outside the tub and then swings around ( bear with me, she is in Fl and I am in Il...going on what the physucal therapist is describing) anyway...I tried looking up the item and see that the legs of the unit rest outside the tub preventing the shower curtain from lining the tub. My question is about the the water...how do you keep from going all over the floor? I am concerned over slipping on a wet floor for both her and caregiver, and then if she needs this long term using it on her own...any ideas?

Thanks,
Pam

A freind of mine had to use one and had a little water on the out side of the tub ( I just called and asked her how it worked for her). She said that she called houskeeping and told them about the chair and the she was afraid she would fall and requested extra towels. She then lined the floor next to the tub with the towels and had no trouble. Maybe you could do this. I hope hat some others who have more personal experiance will be able to tell you more.

I cut my shower curtain liner. :)

Just for you own info, what she's using is called a transfer bench, which differentiates it from a regular tub bench where all four legs are inside. With mine, along the area where the bench crosses the edge of the tub, there is a channel to direct the water, as well as a slit that goes all the way through. I made a couple of vertical slits in the shower liner so that I could put part of the liner down through that slit, and then that helped contour the rest of the liner over and around the part of the transfer bench that stuck out.

HTH!
