Question on Towncar Pricing

I am getting ready to book my transportation from mco to contemporary and have always relied on this board in the past. I notice now that the company I had used in the past is now banned. As I look at the other companies to choose from, I notice FL Tours is a sponsor of this site, but their towncar price is $25 more than TTC or Murray. All three seem to be getting good reviews on this site. My question is: How do I justify spending an extra $25 for basically the same service? Why is FL Tours so much more than the other two? Am I missing something? I would love to support this site as it offers great info, but I'd rather just donate $25 to the DIS. Any insights would be appreciated.

Mark

I agree...I can't understand why they are so much more. I too would rather give the $25.00 to DIS. I 've asked the same question before and have never rec'd an answer.....I'd really like to know what it is!

I'm with you guys, I've requested quotes from several towncar services and FLTours come out the most expensive, I've never used them (and with those prices probably never will). Anyone that has used FLTours can justify the extra expense?

Just got back from our first trip to Dworld and Universal and used FL Tours and loved them. I, too, had a hard time justifying their higher price but was skeptical about the reviews on this board about the others. I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for and although I don't have any experience with the other towncar services, I felt that FL Tours' reliability and customer service more than makes up for the cost difference. We had a really early departure (5:30 a.m.) and I didn't want the stress of worrying about whether my pick up was going to be there or not. Andy calls and confirms the day before and we also made a last minute change and they accommodated us with no problem. They also provided a van vs. a towncar (at no extra charge) at the last minute because I ended up with more luggage than could fit in the trunk of the car. They are a small company but performs better than a large corporation. I would use them again!

Yeah...but I have used other towncar service and had exceptional service at a much lower price...so unless they show up w/ roses what more can be provided???

It is perhaps a perceived quality more than something tangible that you could itemize. I didn't want to risk the reliability of another service that was questionable after reading reviews on this board. I felt it was worth a few extra dollars (which was actually equal to rates at Tiffany because we got a luxury van at the same cost as towncar). I also feel making special requests is justifiable if I've paid for the best.

HMMM! interesting I check rates for both TTC and FL. Tours on their websites and see only a $15 difference for a towncar - not $25.

IMO - I use FL. Tours because of the past experience I and my close friends have with them - I refuse to jeopardize a trip I have spent $1,000's on to save $15.00

Again just MHO - but I know what service I will get with FL. Tours

My recent FL. Tours Review

Okay it is $15.00 for myself....I don't think anyone was being exact with figures, it is still a bit more & I don't understand why. I'd still rather save or donate that $15.00. I have had wonderful service w/ other towncar services, so I cannot justify the cost...plus I had a personal experience w/ Andy and found him to be incredibly rude.... About a year or so ago I emailed several towncar companies b/c the one we used previously had changed owners and we were reading bad reviews. So we were looking for a different service. I emailed FL Tours, along with some others & asked if they matched rates b/c the rates quoted varied quite a bit... as they do now. FL Tours got back to me and stated they did not...not only did they say they didn't (which they are entitled to do)...but he was very rude in his reply to that question & basically made me feel about an inch high for asking. I thought it was a legitimite question....I'd like to add that the other responses from other companies were mixed as to their williness to do so...but none were rude! There was, as usual, the ongoing issue w/ towncar services on disboards and one poster stated many of the services match prices and maybe FL Tours did too. I posted my experience, as I had just emailed several companies and added my experience and feelings on FL Tours.... How my questions was dealt with, how I felt he was brash and his attitude was unnecassary. The next day I rec'd a nasty email to my work email address (from which I request a quote and asked my questions) for posting my experience and ...that I must remove it or he would report me???? I did nothing wrong. He did not PM me thru disboards , my email address thru disboards is my personal address....he emailed me thru my requested quote or work email...... I was completely turned off and will never use them because of that experience!

We had a great experience with FLTours last month (luxury Van, movies etc). We are considering them again for our fall trip but want a limo this time.

I have asked for quotes from a couple of companies-we'll see what I get back.

Well I emailed three companies-3 days ago and so far no one has responded.

I may be wrong, and I sure someone else will know, but I think it's FL Tours that adds the gratuity in the price for you, which would bring the higher price. I know one of the towncar services does this, and it's not Tiffany.

Not sure though, and I wouldn't use any company that demands the amount of gratuity, that is my discretion and choice of how much to tip, and I tip based on quality of service.

Steph

I actually think that it is Happy Limo that adds the tip.

You know, they all must be very busy or something-not one
has answered my email and it has been several days now (Igot the receipt that it had been read but no responses).

Wow thats horrible.
Oh another note..I am sure by reading these boards that many people like Fl Tours but I have heard just as many good things as the company I chose. Its cheaper, will do a grocery stop and stop to take a picture at the WDW entrance. When I emailed them they emailed me back promptly. They are transportation2disney.com. I also did not understand paying more for the same service. I realize of course that this is my first trip but I am willing to take a chanse.

That is who I'm using in June...I haven't seen a lot about them but what I have has been positive. I'll be sure to post when I return!
