Question on timing for add on

I will be looking to add on with a small contract at BCV for 100 pts. I'm getting myself a little confused... I am hoping to purchase an Oct UY but don't need 06 points. (would be looking to use BCV pts in 08) I can see that the wait time can take couple of months, so when would you suggest I call to be added to the wait list? October 07 or before?

Would get on ASAP. Why would you plan it around NOT getting extra points That just sounds crazy to me.

Given that getting BCV points for a specific use year may be difficult, you may want to consider less points when you can get them. And given that you don't need current points, you could easily get by with a few less points by banking the 2006 points if your 2008 trip were in your 2007 use year.

You have a couple of things to consider.

1. On June 4th (or 5th?) the price to add on at BCV will go from $95/pt to $101/pt, so purchasing those 100 points after June 4th will cost you an extra $600.

2. With an Oct UY, if you purchase your add-on prior to Oct 1st, you should get '06 points with your purchase and they will be bankable. If you purchase on/after that date, your first points will be '07 points. Your 2007 UY runs from Oct 1, 2007 through Sep 30, 2008. As Dean pointed out, if your '08 trip falls within that time frame, any '06 points you get with your purchase could be banked into your '07 UY and used for that trip.

3. Your dues for 2007 will be pro-rated from your purchase date. Waiting until later in the year to purchase will reduce the amount of 2007 dues you will pay for this add-on.

If I were in your position, I would try to get that add-on before the price increase. I would bank the '06 points into my '07 UY and use them for the trip in '08. If the '08 trip will take place after Sep 30, '08 I'm sure you could find someone who wanted 100 BCV points!

..see I told you was confused! Thanks for the answers. Our next trip after this year won't be until after Oct 1st 08, that's what had me somewhat confused. I think I will call this week and get added on the list, for any smaller amount. Good point about the increase, and I hadn't thought about banking then renting or transfering the 06 pts...

Just want to clarify something I posted. If you plan to transfer the points, don't bank them because you cannot transfer banked points. You can of course rent out a reservation made with banked points. Good luck!
