question on room key

Is the room key like a credit card and if so will the free dining be ' loaded' onto this.

Also is the photopass a hard plastic card ?

The room key is like a credit card. You set a charging limit at your resort, and purchases go against that. Free dining will be accessed via that card, from everything I've read.

I don't know anything about photopass.

photopass is a hard plastic card also. same size as the room key.

I wanted to know because last year at Universal we had the front desk punch holes in them and then wore them on lanyards around our necks, it worked out great.

Looks like it will work for WDW as well.

Actually that is not a good idea at WDW. The tickets often stop working in the turnstiles and Fastpass machines after you punch holes in them.

OH, that stinks, guess hubby will just have to keep pulling them out ( since he is my pocketbook while on vacation ). To bad for him!

They do sell plastic sleeves you can use to put your pass in and then the sleeve can go on a lanyard.

can the cards be swiped through the sleeves or do you still have to take them out. I know they could not a main gate because they go thru the thingy but what about for food or fast passes?

You would have to take them out. However even if they were hole puched you would have to take them off the lanyard for the main gate and Fastpass.

you can buy id holders at places like Office Depot or Office Max or someplace like that. They're pretty cheap and you can clip it to a lanyard:

Unlike Universal, you will have to take it out because the way the turnstiles work, you have to insert your entire card in the machine, same thing with Fastpasses.
