Question on Prizes Logistics

It is the workflow manager in me that is driving this question.

If the prizes will be drawn at the Mystery dinner on the 7th, how and when will this be announced to the people who are not going to the mystery dinner?

And if someone wins who is not there, how will they find out and how/when will they pick up the prize?

Will it be delivered to their hotel?
For those that are leaving on Sunday morning, will there be an option to mail it to them?

Just wanted to clarify the process so everyone knows the procedure.

The only prize being announced at the Mystery Dinner Theater will be the cruise. Some were under the impression that they had to attend the dinner in order to win, and that is not the case. Every winner will be emailed after the names are drawn, and list of all winners will be posted here on the site.

Thanks for the quick reply Pete. Appreciate the clarification that only the cruise will be drawn Saturday night. How about the other prizes? I do not recall reading that anywhere. When will that be?

The other prizes will be announced on each of our sites informational pages for the Sponsors that so generously gave us prizes. There will be a list of the prizes and a link that will take you to each informational area, where you will search for the winner of that sites prize. I like to think of it as a Treasure hunt, for when you get back home from DISCON2 and are feeling a little blue.

Pete, I was trying to find out when the drawing will be. Last year it was during a group event and that was great. Is the drawing taking place in this type of setting? (Like Illuminations) It would be great if it was so everyone can share in the excitement and congratulate the winners.
 
Hi Pumbaa_ The prizes will be announced as I have described in the post I did earlier today. The other prizes will be announced on each of our sites informational pages for the Sponsors that so generously gave us prizes. There will be a list of the prizes and a link that will take you to each informational area, where you will search for the winner of that sites prize. After a week we will then post the winners on the pages that lists the sponsors and send out an e-mail to each winner at that time. I hope this method of letting the winners know is fun. it also lets us remind people of our great sponsors and what they have to feature.
 
Okay I give up. I thought my question was very straight forward but I cannot seem to get a straight forward answer. So I respectfully surrender.
 
Pumbaa_ I thought I gave a honest straight forward answer to your question. We will draw the winners and post them on the website. What more are you looking for in an answer to the question you asked. I really want to get this resolved for you and I am not trying to be difficult.
 
I think she was trying to find out when and where you were drawing all of the prizes if I am reading it right.. like are you drawing them at a special event during Discon and will people be there for the drawing.. maybe I am misunderstanding but that was my take on it.
 
Hi Mackey Mouse, Thanks for the response. To answer the question I will be arranging to have the names drawn. It will happen at one of the events, but to be honest the announcement of the winners will not be done till we place the names on the sponsors informational pages. I have come up with a way I can give the wonderful sponsors exposure on the website and have a Treasure Hunt for the DisCon people that had signed up for the event. I hope this explains the way it will happen. We have not decided which event it will get pulled at but we are leaning to the night of Illuminations or the Mystery Dinner Show night. Either one it will not be announced the night they are pulled so our plan can happen.
 
I don't know Bob.. call me old fashioned... but I wish you could draw the winner and announce it all in the same night just as we did it last year... you could still post it on the sponsor's site later... but for those attending DisCon officially, wouldn't it be nice to know during DisCon.. Of course, this is JMO..not trying to be difficult.. :) :)
 
Hi Mackey Mouse, The folks will get to find out the big prize of the cruise the night of the Mystery Dinner show. The other prizes can be announced the way described earlier. Having arranged for the prizes from the Sponsors, giving them a little exposure is something I strongly believe in. I hope you can understand the reasons for the way the announcements of the prize winners will be handled.
 
Uh no, actually I don't. I think there have been enough disappointments in the last week. This would have been a positive. The sponsors are appreciated and are used quite a bit by people. I try to use them whenever possible.

Having a search when we get back can still be done and people would do it, inlcuding those not official or not at Disney. For some reason, I feel cheated by this. JMHO, no flaming necessary.
 
Hi Pumbaa_ I am sorry you feel this way. I had no intention of hurting people. I appreciate your comments and hope you still can have a great time at Discon2.
 
I am going to put my feelings on the matter and let the organizer do thier thing. I feel the prizes should be announced at the remaining offical event. To me that is Illuminations Party. We have opted not to do the wonderful Mystery Dinner for our own reasons. I for one am disappointed to have to go search all over the DIS to find out who won the great things offered by the DIS sponsors. I do not mean not to give them do exposure on the DIS. I just feel that the folks who did sign up for DISCON should have the opportunity to be able to share in the fun of the anouncements. By sharing the announcements we can all tell them how jealous we are of them. I also understand the reasons for the way announced. I just feel this way. We are planning on having a great time at DISCON making new friends and getting together with some we met last year. I know this has been difficult on the folks who have worked so hard and put the hearts and souls into making this happen. I just ask the hard working folks realize we are disappointed that this did not work out the way you and us wanted to. Thank you for your hard work.

Hi DaveH, I don't feel I am in a no win situation. What we are trying to do for everyone is have a great time at DisCon2 and we will do that.

The revised Discon2 will be a great time and I for one can not wait till the event gets here, so I can get to see all the friends I have from the DIS.

Just a side note. For those that know Harold from the past, I hear he will be attending some of the events.
