Does anyone buy anything really elaborate to their kids to wear at the character meals or to wear in the park. I have been looking at a bunch of different things from plain to really nice ones with many layers of tulle to give it a nice poof at the bottom. Would this kind of thing be appropriate?

Those dresses are lovely, but you need to take into account their comfort, especially if you are planning on wearing them in the parks. Getting into rides in that getup might not make for a fun time. I know a LOT of people bring the princess dresses to the character meals, and slip them over the kids clothes for the meal, or have them change in the bathroom, so they can be fancy for the meal and comfy for the rides. Just my 2 cents.

Have a great trip!

we brought dd's favorite princess nightgown and she changed into it to meet the princesses. we'll probably do the same thing this year. comfort is key!

thanks your right maybe something a little less poofy would be better.

...just let the kids wear regular clothes, and they always seem to have a great time.

We are at the parks a lot. I make my DD cotton princess dress (cool and comfyand no "itches" ;) ). She wears them all the time and loves them!

We bought the girls the dresses from the park. They did BBB so the dresses came from there. They didn't seem to think they were too uncomfortable. They wanted to wear them everyday and in fact did several times during our stay. They loved walking through the park and having the CM say 'Good Morning Princess'.

I imagaine it depends on what time of year you are there though and which dress you choose.

Here's a thought... The size of the dress when packing. I packed a very nice "big" princess dress and it took up soooo much room in our suitcase,
and she only wore it for the princess breakfast and then I stored it under the stroller- and it took up much needed room there....

we had some fairly plain dresses that were in the play box here at home (leftovers from Halloweens/thrift store, etc). All 3 of my girls wore one the day we had lunch at CRT. It made for such a nice picture with Cinderella!! My oldest isn't much of a "princess" but wanted to do the dress for lunch, so I carried around a change of clothes for her for afterwards. She was much more comfy. My other girls live in the princess dresses at home, so they were just fine!!

Next time I'm thinking about BBB for at least 2 of the girls, so I'll pack the dresses again.

My DD wanted to wear her first communion dress to CRT, complete with shoes and tiara...She wore the dress and tiara, but I had to draw the line at shoes. Besides, crocs go with everything, right ;-) We had come back to the resort before dinner anyway, so she changed into the dress then, and I brought along a thin sundress for her to change into (as we were going to wishes right after) and I just rolled up the first communion dress and jammed it into a big ziplock bag. It worked out fine, and she was soooo pleased. There were lots of little girls in princess dresses, but lots in ordinary clothes too, so whatever works for you and DD is fine! HAVE FUNprincess:

My granddaughters wore their Cinderella dresses and glass slippers that Grandpa bought for them at the Disney store here in town.

They loved dressing up for lunch at the castle but I guess the dresses weren't too comfortable because shortly after they wanted to take them off and put on play clothes.

I ordered the princess jamine costume which is a little more comfortable for my girls than the dresses. I even got the matching shoes. We will be wearing the outfits to the Akershus Breakfast. I will bring a change of clothes/shoes, and the costumes fold up nice a small.

I do not want to lug around two puffy dress all day.
