Does anyone buy anything really elaborate to their kids to wear at the character meals or to wear in the park. I have been looking at a bunch of different things from plain to really nice ones with many layers of tulle to give it a nice poof at the bottom. Would this kind of thing be appropriate?

We are going in May and my 4 year old is wearing a Cinderella "gown". It's just the typical Cinderella "costume" gown. She is insisting that she wear the same thing as Cinderella.

Some people do go all out on the dress... but I'd prefer to buy a less expensive costume and ensure it's comfortable. Not too tight with elastic on the sleeves, not too itchy, or too long to trip over. If your little DD is going to be wearing it all day...it's bound to get food on it, get dirty and you won't be as concerned if you spent $25 as opposed to $75!

I would definately agree on wearing some white or nude sheer tights under a dress with lots of tulle (the only reason why I don't reccomend knit is because they can get hot in the Florida heat). Your daughter will certainly not look overdressed in a fancy dress, she's only overdressed if you both think she is (meaning she can't walk).

Just food for thought, what I've done in the past (when my DD were young so she wouldn't really notice she looked different) is just buy a somewhat casual flower girl style dress that is a similar color to a Disney princess dress. I found one at Macy's a couple years ago that looked just like it could be a "real" Cinderella dress, and I think it was about $12 or $15.

The Belle dress looks very nice and comfortable.

It is very soft and she looks comfy in it. It has these flowers all in the front and back inside the netting type stuff. She loves that!!!! I have a little white sweater in case it is cooler in the morning. Can you tell I am still freezing my butt off I am thinking sweaters for our trip!!

We have that Belle dress too and it's so comfortable. My dd wore a Disney Store Cinderella costume last year and it was itchy on the inside with the seams at the waist. I sewed a thin camisole into the Cinderella dress to make it not itch for my dd.

We got DD a Cinderella dress from the Disney Store. It was on sale, and a friend had a discount, so it wasn't AWFUL, but it was still about $30. You can get cheaper (in quality and price) at Walmart.

Our 3 yr old DD picked out a Cinderella dress at Target last yr for her b-day ($20) and wore it to our Cinderella dinner at the Grand Flo last fall - but right before going in - between checking in for our ADR and being seated - she freaked out and had to take it OFF! Thankfully we had a change of clothes in the backpack. She had been wanting to wear it for weeks leading up to the meal, but then in the end she changed her mind. Can you say frustrating?

my dd has worn the target princess dresses to princess meals. i brought the dress in a ziploc bag (fold dress as best as you can, leave bag open, roll tightly from the bottom, which squeezes all the air out of the bag, then seal, its like making a "space bag" without the vacuum) in the stroller, then put it on over her regular clothing just before going in the restaurant. that way 1) she doesnt get too hot wearing it around the park 2) she doesnt ruin it wearing it around the park 3) she has other clothing on underneath for comfort and in case she wants the dress off. so far that has worked perfectly for us, and its how she plays dress up at home, so ill do that this year as well. princess:

We bought our little princess the Aurora dress from the Disney store - the nearly $100 one. But we caught it on a 40% off day, and they had an early bird promotion where we got another 15% (i think) off.
with tax, it was about $50. But she wears it all the time. I think it was money well spent. She (read - ME) is debating on wearing it or a Dorothy (from Wizard of Oz) dress for MNSSHP.

Hi our DD will be wearing

Ebay

that I won about 1 week ago...its great quality, disney original and we got it for around 40.00 total...beautiful dress, the moment it arrived she couldnt wait to start wearing it...she will be 2 1/2 when we go to WDW in late April.

I highly recommend the dresses at My Dress Up Trunk. They are nice and light and soft, and not itchy at all. And they are only @ $20. My girls each have a Belle and a Cinderella (see DD in my avatar on the left) and they wear them all the time.
