Question on Points and Holding for Booking Change, not Cancel

Hello,

We have a booking coming up within 30 days, but a room I would prefer is available and is 5 points less than we have in the current booking. Same resort, different room type.

If I change the booking to get my 5 points "back", would those points go into holding, like if we just cancelled, or is there more leniency for changes?

My searching returned a lot of holding questions but in my brief search I didn't find this specific issue, and I am afraid I may miss my chance.

Yes, the five points will go into holding. Any points that come out of a reservation modified in the last 30 days before arrival go into holding.

Thank you for the extremely quick response, that is what I was afraid of. Oh well, would have been nice but not going to stress over 5 points.

To add, if you have any other trips within the same UY as this one, when you get to the 60 day mark, they will allow you to put holding points into a current reservation and free up others as long as it is done at least 31 days in advance.

I just did that with some changes I made to my trip this past week and then the holding slid right into my March dates.

Yes, the five points will go into holding. Any points that come out of a reservation modified in the last 30 days before arrival go into holding.

I did this once to avoid changing rooms. Went from 6 nights sv & 1 night pv to 7 nights sv. Difference was also 5 points. Only time I ever "wasted" points, because I didn't have the ability to use the holding points before they expired. I just considered those 5 points the cost of "convenience", and decided it was well worth it! I'd do it again to avoid changing rooms.
