question on picking up tickets at the electronic kiosk

bought the 7 day special. we are going to WDW for 8 nights. figured we would spend 2 days at universal parks with these tickets. now it looks like we may not have enough wiggle room in the schedule to go there at all this year. can i leave the tickets in electronic limbo till next year or do i have to retrieve them and take them home with me????
