Hello all,

This will be the third trip to Disneyland for my family and we have decided to go over Christmas (Arrive Dec. 23- Depart Dec. 26). I have heard of banquets on Christmas Day or that we could book a reservation at some of the character meals for the special holiday (we have gone to Goofy's the last two times...) any suggestions and information would be greatly appreciated?

I decided we needed to be where we could make some different memories at this special time, because I just lost my Dad in January and my Mom in August 08. I have three girls and I want them to have a Christmas that takes their minds (and mine..) off of mourning and make their first Christmas without their Poppie special.

Thanks all for your help on this one.

First thing, you need to book right away. Liberty Tree Tavern in MK is our favorite for Christmas day. The atmosphere seems more like Christmas and the food is more like Christmas. Chrystal Palace is nice with Winnie the Pooh and characters..We havent tried the Castle on Christmas, but I bet its nice.. Oophs, I reread your post I was thinking Disney World.....

I've been waiting to hear about this too, but so far I don't see anything online about special holiday meals. I know that when you call the dining line now the recorded info gives you info about a special "Thanksgiving Feast" in the DLH ballroom; perhaps closer to then they will release the Christmas info. I'm calling tomorrow about some other dining reservations (Yay, my 60 day window is beginning!) - I will ask about Christmas.

Hi Newbie

Did you happen to call and get any information...just checking, does not seem that anyone is responding to this question. Bummer...

I came across this post and thought I'd try and help out a bit...first of all, Becky1960, what you are talking about is WDW...OP is asking about DLR in anaheim....Disneyland itself doesnt really do a christmas dinner..there is no special place at the DLH ballroom either like they do for Thanksgiving/Mother's Day etc....the restaurants in DL will be open and they will have a few special selections but not a major change...however, here are some things you might want to check out:

Napa Rose at the Grand...they do a special dinner every year but if you are seriously considering this place then you better get on it and book it ASAP!! they book up fast

If your not wanting a traditional dinner I know that there are several options at the Garden Walk up the road on Harbor

If you are willing to travel outside of Anaheim:

The Queen Mary in Long Beach..about half an hour away

Ritz Carlton, Laguna Nigel which is in Dana Point and about 45 min away, has a fabulous brunch on Christmas Day

The Island Hotel in Newport Beach which is about 20 min. away not only does a brunch all day on Christmas Day but also a Christmas Dinner that night

St Regis Resort, Monarch Beach which is also in Dana Point, hosts a dinner on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

Theres also the standby Marie Callendars that offers a traditional turkey dinner on Christmas Day but they do ask that you call ahead and make reservations...If none of these work for you, I would suggest maybe, considering buying a supermarket premade dinner from Safeway or Vons etc.. and just eating it in your hotel room?

hope this helps

Hi Newbie

I just called. For Christmas Eve, the only dinner is at the Plaza Inn - NY striploin, mashed potatoes, etc. (it's a buffet). She said Christmas Day has many more choices for special meals - Goofy's Kitchen (buffet), Rainforest Cafe, PCH Grill (buffet), Plaza Inn (NY Striploin), DLH, Ariel's Grotto, & Carnation Cafe. I didn't get details on each because we won't be there that day (we were looking for Christmas Eve and I decided to do Storyteller's), but if you call they will be booking them starting 60 days out for Christmas Day (i.e. tomorrow). There were a lot of choices for Christmas Day.

We called first thing this am...right when the lines opened for reservations. We booked Goofy's Kitchen for 5pm. They are serving brunch until 2pm and then reopening up at 5pm for Christmas evening dinner. Our girls did not want "brunch" so we opted for the first time at dinner. We love Goofy's Kitchen and have never been disappointed. The oldest and youngest of our daughters had their birthday celebrations there...and now our middle daughter (who will be 13 December 8th, will be there to celebrate Christmas and her birthday!). All is good and happy here now at our house!!! :cloud9:
