question on making an ADR?

Ok, how do you all do it?

When you're making a reservation and really don't care if it's for lunch or dinner and you just want to make sure you eat at a certain place, do you put in "lunch" "dinner" and call it a good effort or do you select an actual time or just go through multiple times?

Just always been curious if one way is better than another.

When you ask for a specific time if that is not available then it will offer alternative times, and if none available it will say there are none available within a 3 hour window around it (in my experience). But if you really don't care then just put 'lunch' or 'dinner' and see what you are offered.

Also you can search for tables at specific restaurants singularly or use filters to search for a specific park or resort or type of meal e.g. character dining, then all options for that day/timeframe would show up for you to choose from.

It sounds like you are pretty flexible with your dining and not focused on a specific ADR so you should be fine. My only goal at my ADR window was Space 220 Lounge so started with that then worked through my list based on known popularity.

I probably need to rephrase. I've been making ADRs for about ten years.

Over these ten years and as things have changed, I've done both certain times and sometimes just said "dinner" or "lunch" . I just wondered what most people do.

Here's an example. Say I wanted to eat at Space 220 (I've actually been trying for a year now on multiple visits to get an ADR here, but shame on me that we seem to decide to head back to WDW just shy of my window i.e. 55 days, etc. LOL)

Anyway Example:

I want to find any time I can for a few days in September. Would it better to hit every single individual time during that day or to just hit "lunch" or "dinner"? Does that make sense? Because I've searched breakfast before or lunch before and it said unavailable and then I hit 9am (which is during breakfast) and it say reservation found 9:10am.

make sense? just curious what most people do.

It’s a funny thing… sometimes I can hit “dinner” and come up with nothing but if I enter 6 PM I’m offered 3 different times! Maybe that’s just me LOL

I usually try the general designation first but if I come up with nothing, I switch to specific times… easy to do in the app… and just cycle through.

Good luck!

I agree with PPs - sometimes entering the meal works, sometimes I need to specify a time. If it’s an ADR I really, really want, I’ll do both!
