Has anyone made a purchase and then went down to WDW and found that there is a better incentive than the one you just got? If so can you call your guide and say that you just seen a better incentive and want to get the better incentive?

I just purchased and didn't think the incentives were all that great but we didn't feel like messing with the hassle of resale again just to get ROFR.

I'm not complaining at all just is that something that is accepted or common?

We are going Home for the first time 10/28 - 11/03 and we purchased on 10/11.

While I don't have firsthand experience with it, many members have posted that as long as your contract hasn't closed, you can contact your guide and have the contract torn up and redone to reflect the better incentives.

Where did you purchase your points? What were the current incentives being offered?

As long as your contract hasn't closed, yes, you can make any changes to your contract (number of points, incentives, use year, resort, etc.). However, given that your contract can close at any time once DVC has everything in a row, I would recommend calling your Guide immediately in that the tentative closing date is just that. Good luck! :goodvibes

We purchase at SSR and the current incentives are $10.00 of the current price of $112.00 per point. Same incentive for AKV and VGC. BLT was $5.00 off of $120.00. That's it, not much.

I like SSR and the MF are low and the THV are nice if we want to take friends or family. Low in points. We like AKV but MF scared us off and BLT we really didn't want. (Not that we won't visit, just not our home resort.)

As far as the contract closing, I don't think it has. Still waiting on the contract to sign. All I have done is put the down payment and we are in the system.

I believe you have 10 days from the date you sign during which you can rescind the contract by FL law. After 10 days you could only make a change if it hasn't closed. As I understand things it can't close until after the 10 day period elapses. At least for FL properties like you mentioned; HHI & VGC may have different rules for that... I did make a change to my VGC one because I started things as a 40 point add-on at $112 with no discount then incentives starting at 50 points were announced soon thereafter so I increased my contract to that by canceling the original deal and having a new contract drawn up.

Yes, as others have said, Disney will allow you to amend your contract if the incentives are better before you have closed. I did that in the winter.

Since you have not yet even signed, you have a good chance of still being in the "process" by the time of your trip. When you get the papers (probably a week after you agreed to buy), you typically have 7 days to get them signed and then mailed back. Once Disney gets them, you are given a 10 day rescind period from the date you sign. It is only after that that Disney can close the contract.

Here is a thought--why not tell your guide that you are going to Disney the 28th and that it would just be as easy to drop them off to him/her when you are at WDW? This way, you will know if the incentives are better--if not, you will be all set. If they are, then your guide can re-do the paperwork while you are there.

When I added on in June, I wanted to delay the closing by a month so I could pay with my Disney Visa (and do it after a statement closing date) and Disney had no problem with this.

Good luck!

You will find that Disney deliberately waits between incentives because they don't like to rewrite contracts. Sometimes the new ones are better and sometimes they aren't. It all depends on if they are meeting their marketing objectives.
