Do many people actually trade with II? Is there any cost for II membership for DVC owners? How many points does it take to trade into a nicer resort through II? Sorry, lots of questions cause I think I finally have hubby thinking about it. Don't want to celebrate too soon though. I want to make sure I have all the info I need before he starts asking questions.
With DVC, you do not need to join II. They join for you. Your expense is $75 to do a trade into one of the 5 star locations accepted by DVC as a like trade. DVC tries to only trade to resorts that are of similar caliber. The fee is charged after they find a match to your request for a trade.
If you are trading during peak season, a 1 bedroom will be aprox. 160 points for a week and a 2 bedroom will be 270. Low seasons will be 124 and 207.
you can definitely trade it - but your best money wise is the DVC resorts.
that say I think trading a 1-bedroom now is a nice option. remember this is for the full week. with a 1-bedroom trade you can generally get a 2-bedroom - just depends upon how popular your destination and resort is at the time.
If you want DVC part of the time and other timeshares the rest, just buy less DVC points at look at other options for the non DVC stays. Other timeshare systems might be the best for you with or without DVC.
