Question on II trades

Do many people actually trade with II? Is there any cost for II membership for DVC owners? How many points does it take to trade into a nicer resort through II? Sorry, lots of questions cause I think I finally have hubby thinking about it. Don't want to celebrate too soon though. I want to make sure I have all the info I need before he starts asking questions.

We have done an II trade (actually booked two but had to cancel one). You don't pay for II membership but there is a transaction fee associated with the booking (it was a while ago so I don't remember what it was, I think around the same as booking DCL). The number of points is based on the unit you want and the time of year (high or low season) and doesn't vary based on the resort you are looking at--I believe 160 points is the maximum for a one bedroom. For both of our confirmed II reservations we were actually given two bedroom units but only charged points for a one bedroom unit because that was what was requested, we were either upgraded by the resort or maybe they didn't have one bedrooms. We didn't have real problems with matching, it was a pretty easy process.
