Question on how to package a dress....

Hi everyone,

I am in the same boat as all of you. Sales are down for sure. However, I have 3 bids and each of them are for holiday gowns that I've only worn once. They are all full length and one of them has a full skirt. Can anyone suggest the safest way to package and ship these dresses. I want to ensure they arrive safely and not wrinkled.

The best tip that I know of to prevent wrinkles is dry cleaning plastic. An old travel tip!

I've never tried this......but I heard that if you wrap your garments in tissue paper they will not wrinkle. I will be trying this on our Dec trip, as we will be attending a wedding.

I have never tried this but have read it. Lay the dress out flat on a bed, facing down. Place a layer of tissue paper or thin plastic over it all. Fold in each of the skirt sides once if the skirt is wide & flared at the bottom. If there are sleeves, fold those in once as well, along the back of the shoulder sleeve seams.

Place a couple of empty cardboard paper towel rolls (the cardboard cylinders left when the paper towels run out) end to end along the length of the bottom hemline of the dress. Carefully roll up the dress from the bottom, around the cardboard, ending with the shoulder seams wrapped around the outside of the garment.

When finished, wrap the whole thing in a layer of tissue paper or thin plastic and place it inside of a shipping box. Supposedly, when unrolled at its destination, the garment will have very few if any wrinkles. It can't slide around and has few or no folds. Some people do this with dress clothes placed in carry-on luggage rather than check large garment bags at the airport. HTH!

Don't you think your buyers will dry clean the dresses when they arrive? I wouldn't worry about it.
