Question on Fast Pass Plus

I have two questions:

1. My son who is 8 does not like any of the mountain rides. Everyone else in our party loves them. If I book different fast pass plus rides for him will they allow an adult to go with him without one. I hate that he will miss out on rides by us using our fast passes for the mountains and would like him to be able to utilize fass pass also but he is to young to go alone.

2. My 2.5 year old has a magic band, no park ticket and it let me assign fast pass plus to her also. Obviously she cannot ride the mountains so are her fast passes valid and if I put her in for a character meet and greet will they allow me to go also?

Thanks!

A. No.

B. No.
All who are over the age of 3 must have a FP to partake of a FP experience.
That includes parents of kids at a Meet & Greet.

Sorry.

But since it let me book the fast pass under her can I then use her band and since she is under 3 then she can go with me?

It is my understanding that only those with tickets are eligible to book FPs. Did you buy her a ticket? As for your 8 year old, he can ride alone if he wishes to.

There should be no legitimate FP+ issued for children without paid tickets (due to young age.)
(Who knows what may be going on with the very glitchy MDE software?)

But, even the youngest children in a party staying on-site are issued a MagicBand (just to keep peace in the family.)

I did not buy her a ticket but I was allowed to assign a fast pass to her and it shows up on the app that she has a fast pass.....

As I stated in my post #5 above, there should be no legitimate FP+ reservations issued
for children under 3 years who don't have/need a park ticket.

Glitchy MDE software may be the culprit.

Sounds like a glitch. I would not trust that there is a FP for her. Under 3s have never been able to get a FP without a ticket under any FP system, - or +.

Scratch that, my screen shots from last month show her having one but now they have updated it and removed her.

The best way to do the mountains is to get a child swap which you should beable to get with your 2.5 year old. Then 1 adult can fp the ride with your 8 year old and then do a mountain with a child swap pass.

I asked this question in a previous thread and was told that child swap is only available for those first going through the sb line and that both adults would need a fastpass for the fastpass line.

This. But a child under the age of 3 doesn't need a FP for anything either. So if you book a FP to see a princess for yourself, your child under 3 can go with you.

IMO the purpose of giving everyone a MB is to prove that the child is under 3. Otherwise, how would the CMs know for sure who does or doesn't need a FP to get in line.

That's not what I read on previous threads. I haven't actually used it though, but planning to for my 2 year old on our May trip. Hopefully someone else will chime in that has first-hand experience. :goodvibes

This is how it was explained to me in other threads. Only the first adult to go on the mountain will need a FP. Your whole party will approach the CM at the FP line and say you need to do child swap. (This is why the 2.5yo needs to be with you, so the CM can see that you actually do have a child too small to ride.) The CM will give you a child swap pass, then the first adult will scan their FP and go on the ride. The child swap pass will allow the 2nd adult to go on the ride through the FP line. So you can book FP for other rides for your 8yo and the 2nd adult to go on together.

Perfect! Thanks!

We used child swap a ton with FP- (haven't been there since FP+) and this is how it worked then. You absolutely can use FP and the child swap together, at least several months ago. The first person needs to either go in SB or use a FP (they can't just hop in FP line by sheer virtue of getting a child swap) but then the second person through gets in FP line using the child swap. It's a great system!

Thanks! So basically they do not care if you are initially going through the sb or fp line, all that matters is that you have an eligible child that requires the adults to use cs.
