I am waiting for a BCV resell from Timeshare and just talked to the agent. He told me the dues are $4.68 per year. I could be wrong about this-we had a bad connection. Is this right and isn't this an increase from last year? Is the annual increase usually this much? He also said this covers prop taxes in FL and my state. Like I said we had a bad connection, wondered if I heard right.

The dues for BCV based on the budget are $4.17 per point. The resorts also underpaid the real estate taxes for 2003 so an additional charge was added to the bills. I don't think it would go up to $4.68.

The DVC dues went through about a five year period where they didn't vary very much from year to year. For the past two years, the dues at the resorts have seen jumps more in the 5% range. This was caused by several factors, primarily a decrease in the investment being earned on monies that DVC has invested in the Capital Expenditure budgets and an increase in insurance/pension costs for employees. Hopefully, the economy turning around and Disney working out their employees costs will get things back under control again.

The dues cover operating expenses, real estate taxes and money put into the capital reserve for future upkeep/repair of the resorts. You should not have to pay any local property tax and you may be able to deduct the property tax portion of the dues on your income tax.

Thanks, Pam. You cleared all that up for me. I hope it won't be long until I'm paying those dues!
