Hi

I have never been on DCL and am thinking of going in November since DS is now 3 and potty trained and loves everything Disney, especially the characters. We also have a DD who will be around 18 months. Does anyone know what category of cabins will work for a family of 4? Also do they offer cribs on board?

Does anyone have any experience with the daycare facility for kids under 3? We are not planning on leaving DD there for long but would like the occasional quiet dinner or short period alone. We have not had much time alone in the last 3 years and would like to plan a little one-on-one time into this vacation.

Thanks for your help
Beth

We have cruised twice (so far) with DCL and have been in a cat. 6 both times. It was fine for us. My children were 2 and 5 the first cruise and 3 and 6 on our last one.

DCL does provide pack and play cribs. We got one the first cruise but my DS pushed in on the sides and it collapsed in so that was his first night in the big boy bed. If your child in younger I am sure it will be fine.

Flounders is available for children 2 and under or if your 3 yr. old is not potty trained. The staff seemed very nice. We scheduled my 2 yr. old but we didn't use it.

If your 3 yr. old is potty trained they could go to the Oceaneer's Club in the 3-4 yr. old group. My DS3 enjoyed his time there.

Have a fun trip!

sorry i didn't read your questions very closely...I see that you do have a 3 yr. that is potty trained...the club will work well for your son and Flounders for your DD. :)

There are also meshed First Year bedrails available on request to your room host if you choose not to use the crib. I know that both of my kids were out of their at 18 months & sleeping in a twin bed with rail.

If you wanted to go to a lower cat, I believe some of the cat. 10s sleep 4 also.:D

Cat 10's and 11's can sleep four as well. Cat 11 with four will be gty status -- thus making an upgrade more likely (some say).

We've done both with four people.

We had a cat 5 and a Cat 8. With the cat 8 we had a 2 1/2 and 1 1/2 yo. the port a cribs that they supply worked fine for us, no problems and they were clean. If you check the DCL web site it will tell you what cabins sleep 4. I know that cat 7 sleep 3 but am not sure about the others.
Our children have both been in the care of Flounders on our Cruises. My youngest loved the toys and the other children. Both times when I went to get her she was asleep. They tell you to bring diapers, food, bottles/cups, and any security objects your child may have. they label everything so it doesn't get mixed up and also put a label on the childs back with his/her name and scheduled times in the nursery.
On our 1st cruise we only had one child and she was 10 months old. I did not put her to bed by laying her down and letting her fall asleep by herself. I still rocked her. In the nursery they just lay the children down so if this is the was your child is use to being put to bed they will do great. The only time I brought her there I was paged to go to the nursery because she was upset. Every parent that has a child in the clubs will have a pager and they will call you if they cannot calm your child or if they have any problems. You also have a code word that you select so when you go to pick up your child you tell the staff the code then go in to the nursery to get the child. If they like daycare they will have a blast!

We had 2 Cat 10's last year for our family of 6...I'm sure a family of 4 would be just fine in a Cat 10....They are definately cheaper then some of the other catagories mentioned above....

The Cat 11's are slightly less sq footage then a Cat 10...
