Question on chat (delurking)

Ok thought I would hang out in chat tonight and I did. Wow it goes fast and I am intimidated by so many people and the flurry of topics. Is there a newbie chat? Where the lurkers can hang out and try to communicate maybe get us use to a small group first? Maybe it exists and I don't know it .

Hey Kris

Chat can get a little nuts sometimes. There are chats about various subjects on different nights - a schedule is in a sticky post - try one of those.

Other than that I say just jump in - it can be very fun. You don't have to answer everyone or keep up on all topics - just pick one or two and go with those.

I've been following chat for 2 years and it still intimidates me. Just jump in - use large text and see what happens.

Hi Kris .....Chat is alot of fun when once you get the hang of it. I remember the first couple times I tried Chat and it was just fast furious, I watched alot in the beginning, but then I jumped in and had a great time. Make sure you make the Chat window big and your font big like JCB said, it takes some getting used to, but it's worth it to keep at it.

Wednesday night chats tend to be the fastest as it is podcast night and many DISers come in. You could try another night to get used to how chat works and then join us again another Wednesday when you are more comfortable.

Thanks for all the welcomes...i actually enjoyed watching the chat....it was kind of interesting....I will definitely try and join podcast chat again...i think it looks fun but may participate in a few other boards. As you can see I am a long time listener and member but don't post much. Guess my new years resolution is to try and step out more.

Go to the "Options" Tab at the top of the chat window.

The next few things are purely optional

Use a Projector..

Use a TV...

Turn your Monitor 90 degrees...

Obviously, I was not committed enough to chat the few times I tried to join in! Working with a small laptop screen in hotel room without a projector, av cables or a good way of turning the monitor w/o turning the keyboard has left me unable to achieve the holy grail of podcast chat immersion.
