Hello everyone. We have reservations at the CBR 12/13/03 to 12/20/03. I was reading the Unofficial Walt Disney World Guide, and the author stated that some rooms are drab, and too make sure you get a recently renovated room. I thought that all rooms were renovated in the last year or so. Is this wrong? Were just some of the rooms renovated. If so, how do you found out which rooms have been renovated. Thanks in advance for any info. :)

To the best of my knowledge all of the rooms at CBR have been refurbished. There are some pictures posted (try safetymom) showing the improvements. There seems to be a bit more storage space with the refurbishment and they added a curtain by the sink area for privacy. The rooms were bright and colorful -- everything seemed fresh and clean. They also a nice job on the food court area. That had been looking pretty drab but it looks much better now.

All the rooms have been refurbished. Not a drab room in the resort. I have pictures of the room on my web site listed below. You might want to read the CBR FAQ listed below also for lots of great information on CBR.

You will love the resort.

Thank you safetymom and franw. I feel a lot better about my choice now. Thanks safetymom for the great links. I thought that the rooms had been renovated, and was surprised when I read this in the guide book. It is the 2003 book also.

Thanks again! :) :)

Hi tinawv,

Is that 'drab' comment from the 2003 edition? I'm sure we've inspected the rooms at the CBR in the last few months. I believe franw and safetymom are correct: all of the rooms have been refurbished.

Sincerely,

Len

Safetymom, I apologize for posts back to back, but I meant to ask if you had a building recommendation. Our reservation is for a water view room. What all does a "water view" entail. I have read that a "water view" can be widely defined.

Hi Len - Yes it was from the 2003 Guide.

P.S. Safetymom - I love your photos! :D

I have heard all the rooms were redone I hope so... We just changed our ressies from POR to CBR...It should be fun:cool:

tinawv, a water view at CBR is nice but I don't think worth the money. I have had them several times. Only once did I pay for it.

Since CBR doesn't have private balconies it is hard to take advantage of the view. Some of the views are great while other water views you have to cran your neck just the right way to see the water. We usually have the blinds partially closed so people aren't looking into our room.

It depends on what you want to be near as far as a room recommendation. Trinidad North and Martinique are the two closest to Old Port Royale and the main pool.

Thanks again safetymom. I wanted a standard view, but this was all they all left out of the annual pass rates. I was hoping a water view could also be a pool view. I wouldn't mind having a room with a quite pool view.

Have a great day. ;)

Thanks Tinawv. I don't see the 'drab' comment in the 2004 edition, so I think we're safe going forward. I know a couple of folks associated with Mousesavers.com had very nice things to say about the new CBR rooms a few months ago. I'd have no qualms about staying there.

Safetymom, you've made some excellent points about the water-view rooms at the CBR. Would you mind if I passed your comments on to Bob at the Unofficial Guide?

Thanks,

Len

Not a problem Len. I saw on another newsletter that there still were parrots on Parrot Cay at CBR. It is a huge job to be up to date on all the details of a resort.

CBR is our favorite and stay there every chance we get.

tinawv,

My Daughter and I will be at CBR 12/14-12/20 also. We have been there several times, although the last time was a couple of years ago, but we have never had a "drab" room. We have always been very impressed with the whole resort and the cast members at the resort.

I hope that you have a great time, I know that my Daughter and I are looking forward to going again.

Bob

CBR is a wonderful resort and it is not drab in any way! Here is a link to my photos from last summer, all rooms were totally refurnbished and our King room was like new. We stayed in Jamaica, our favorite CBR village! Have fun!

We absolutely love CBR, and I think you will too !!! Not drab at all. We always have a beautiful room. We took our best friends there this past May, and they loved it. We booked for our annual Thanksgiving trip, and they are meeting us on 12/1. Originally, they were booked at ASMusic, hoping for an AP rate. All that I have heard from them for the past few months is that they wanted to "see the ducks again" (LOL) at CBR. With the AP rate, was able to get us (3) rooms, and needless to say, they are thrilled. I have been e-mailing them CBR pictures all day !!

CBR is awesome !!!

Andrew

We just returned rom the CBR and it was wonderful as usual. On our 5th day at the resort, the maintenance crew was going room to room installing hairdryers, full size ironing boards and irons in each room. They work wonderful because I used them all. That's the only thing that could have made the CBR even more spectacular, I hated bring my hair dryer!! We also only stay in Jamaica village.

Thank you TerryN for that info about the hairdryers and iron and ironing boards.

Could you do me a favor and post that information in the CBR FAQ thread listed below? That would be a big help to those folks interested in CBR.

Thanks again.

Thanks everyone for the great information. I went from being a little apprehensive to can't wait to get there. lol

Billybob - I hope you and your daughter have a great time also. I am so looking forward to being there in December. I hope that the weather cooperates.

Meiandrew - We have three rooms reserved also. This is the first time my whole family has been together for a trip. (mother, father, brother, sister and their families along with my family). I am excited about us all being together and in my most favorite place.

Hulabird - I really enjoyed looking at your photos! :)

TerryN - Thank you for the info on the hairdryers and iron and ironing boards. I also hate to pack a hairdryer. They are such an odd item to pack.

Thanks again everyone, and have a great Labor Day weekend. ;)
