After staying there, curious why the points are so low? Low in the sense one night in a standard view 1 bed room right now is 1 point lower than SSR and the same on the weekends as OKW. BWV is a walk to Epcot or HS (with a boat to boot). Find it curious that what is attached to a deluxe hotel is equivalent to properties further off property?

They more than make up for it with what they charge on the BW and Garden/pool views.... There aren't THAT many std. views to be had.... JM2C

DVD was still learning with BWV and OKW which is likely the main reason that SSR is higher than OKW and BCV overall higher than BWV (and with all standard view rooms). Basically it's what the market would bear.

BWV was the second on-campus resort. The product was still new. I am betting that 2042 extensions or re-marketing will raise prices all around there.

Can an extension allow DVD to "reset" point requirements? Did it happen when it experimented extension over at OKW?

No but they could let it expire, sell like new and revamp in any way they chose.

Because at the time they were selling BWV they basically took the total cost of the resort, divided it by a fixed number of points and figured out what to sell those points at. 25 years ago the cost per point ratio for what you got for them worked. In fact I remember when it was only OKW and BWV, the threads that were holy wars talking about why anyone would pay more for a smaller room at BWV than OKW since BWV was a little higher. Once they assigned the total number of points to the resort, they can't change that total. They can raise the points per night in some places but they need to lower it correspondingly elsewhere. This happens every so often, like when they add new view/location categories to older resorts and they have done it a bit trying to balance weeknight vs. weekend demand... basically they move things around in response to demand requirements to try to have the resort be at full occupancy all year round. But once they have declared the total number of points they can't raise that number, just work with what they've got. Things changed as new resorts were built and they were able to sell more points and charge more points for rooms.

That's what I thought. I know if DVD decides to sell new contracts at BWV (or whatever it gets renamed/re-themed to), it will definitely be more expensive per point and require more points per night as it has direct access to two parks.

Yeah, that is what I meant by re-marketing. Either they make an extension dear (but could not create new points or charts), or expire, "re-imagine" the points requirements and sell from scratch. The latter seems more likely.

It was the second resort at WDW. Eventually DVC realize they could employ point creep at each of their new resorts plus sell for the same price per point and make even more money.

Thanks for the education - sounds like we have roughly 25 years (I turn 50 so there) of "low" point BWV.

Man I miss RichYams. Wasn't he the one always saying you could sit on the balcony at BWV and reach into the fridge to get a beer?
haha he is gone I guess. I took an extended break myself but due to changing financial and personal situation, not related to anything on the boards. he was a first class pot stirrer! :stir: I think this smilie was just for him ;)

He passed away :( I forget when, a long time now.

I have speculated on another thread with similar topic that DVD will most certainly re-imagineer BWV along with BCV to sell as "new" when those contracts expire because it will allow them to "reset" the current bargain points per night requirements at those resorts.

I don't think they'll do much to the theme of either, because they're attached to cash resorts. I think the main reimagining will be the points charts.
