Question on banked points

If it says I have to use x amount of points by June 1st 2013
Does that mean I have to use and travel by June 1st or just book a trip by June first
Like could I call on June first and use those in October of 2013?

All points use is based on date of stay.

If your use year is June, the points for a 2013 use year must be used by May 31, 2014. If they are from a 2012 use year, and you did not bank them, they will not be usable after May 31, 2013.

But if they expire on June 1, 2013 they must be used (both book and stay) before June 1, 2013. You could book a night on May 31, 2013 and check out June 1, 2013. But you could not use them to book a stay for June 1, 2013 or later.
