Question on AAA room-only discount

Seems like you're making some very straightforward concepts a little difficult.

You can book an AAA discount on a room at WDW. You can book it through pretty much anyone -- CRO, your travel agent, or an AAA travel agent. You also can book a MYW package through AAA, in which case you'll receive a discount on the package, equal exactly to the discount you'd receive on the room alone. Is that "discount" on the room, the park tickets, or the dining? Impossible to say. It's like asking how many angels can dance on a pin.

There are, pretty much literally, 1,000 posts on this forum about this, since the same question gets asked between 8 and 10 times a week. I've never seen it in such a roundabout way, though.

Peace.

*sigh*

I ran a search and, yes, I got an absurd number of hits. Were there 1000 posts on this particular question? No. 8 to 10 times a week? Hardly. The vast majority of the posts I came across dealt with getting free dining with the AAA discount. But the question I asked? I never saw it directly addressed that in booking the discount with Disney directly you could only book the room. That's not to say it isn't there! It might be, but I didn't find it. Because there are a heck of a lot of posts in general. Not all of us can read every post on ever forum on disboards. I looked, I couldn't find it, I asked. Sue me.

I wasn't making ANY concept difficult. The description I had read merely called it a "room-only" discount. How is it making the concept difficult to ask if that meant I had to book "room-only" or if I could book as a package?

Thankfully most people understood what I meant precisely...

Hopefully someone reading this thread will have booked through AAA before. I mostly curious to know what happens in the process with AAA after you book with them regarding documentation and how Disney's Magical Express works with it. I'd prefer not to start another thread specificly on that subject in another forum!

I'm not sure anyone has answered this part of your question yet - if so, sorry for the repeat!

We booked a package with AAA last fall for free dining. We did not get the room discount since the DDP was free (but you knew that already). All of our paperwork went to our AAA agent, who then repackaged it and sent it to us. We did not use Magical Express (we drove), but our friends travelling with us did. I THINK that their luggage tags and everything else came to the AAA agent and was sent out with the same AAA package to them.

Does that help? :thumbsup2

That is my understanding that if guests book through AAA or any TA, then they will get all their info from AAA/TA. Disney will fax, mail, call, anything to the AAA/TA.

DDP is figured by nights since Check In is not actually until after 4 p.m., and check out is by 11 a.m.
Extra credits cannot be added to the DDP. The credits are calculated per person in the travel party by the number of night's stays.

That helps immensely, thank you! :D

I did a package through AAA and had the dining plan. I then booked my own airfare. I could have had the travel agent book the Magical Express service, but instead I did it myself (this way I didn't have to give her the flight information) online. Once I had the Magical Express reservation number, I did give her the reservation, as she requested, because AAA is the "owner" of the package,. Close to our trip (not sure how close-but in plenty of time) we received the enire package (voucher for our trip, storytelling vouchers, etc.), including the ME luggage tags.

Hope this helps-let me know if you need more information.
