question...is this right?

We booked treehouse villas for jan 2010..used the rest of our 2009 points and some of our 2010 points... member services put the remainder of our points in 2009 use year. I am confused, shouldn't the unused points from 2010go back into 2010? If they are in 2009, I don't think I'll use them bc we are not doing disney again til january bc we are doing Hawaii in October. After our January trip, I don't know when we'll be going again and I dont' want to lose the points.

MS would only borrow from 2010 the number of points required to book your reservation. They don't put points back.

Remember that your use year runs from October - Setpember. Currently you are in your 2008 Use Year: it started in October 2008 and goes through September of 2009. So, even though the calendar says 2009, you are in UY 2008. A trip in January of 2010 is in your 2009 Use Year. Unless you banked the points from your 2008 Use Year, the points used for January 2010 would have come from UY 2009, with possible borrowing from UY 2010.

Perhaps what MS was talking about was this: they banked your 2008 UY points into 2009 for the January 2010 reservation. It sounds like the 2008 points that weren't used for that reservation remain banked into 2009. That means that you can't use them for a reservation between now and the end of September 2009. If you want to make a reservation for that timeframe you would have to borrow from your 2009UY points.

You can find that out by logging into your account on the DVC website and viewing the transaction history.
