Hey all! My in-laws and I would would like to head to Boardwalk in the future. The issue is, I looked into a Boardwalk Grand Villa for the 6 of us (wife, myself, FIL, MIL, SIL, BIL), but my SIL doesn't want to stay in the same room with all of us . I was wondering how difficult it would be to obtain enough points for three separate rooms. Any tips/advice would be greatly welcomed and appreciated. :-) I knew I could ask my DisBoard family

Don't understand your SIL at all, LOL - I'd jump at the chance to stay in a BWV Grand Villa - especially with only 6 people total!!! Does she know she won't be sharing a bedroom or a bathroom with anyone but her husband? Each of the 3 bedrooms in a Grand has its own bathroom. You'd only be sharing the kitchen, dining and living room.

It might actually be easier to obtain points for 2 or 3 villas (assume you are renting the reservation(s) ) as more owners might be available with smaller amounts to rent than a GV will require. However, you may not want multiple owners involved in case you can't get the number of rooms you need.

Ease is hard to predict as you have two issues regarding availability - availability of the GV itself (they tend to go before the 7 month window opens) and availability of BWV points. Depending on when you plan to go and for how long, you may need to book before the 7 month window opens to get what you want. Brokers may or may not have BWV owners with BWV points.

Good luck!

Separate villas would be easier to book than a GV. To book a GC at BWV (there are only 7 of them), you would have to have enough points at BWV to book it. And you would most likely need to own there (or at least rent from someone who does).

Three separate villas (especially studios) would cost less and could be booked at the 7-month mark during most time periods as long as you are fine with a G/P view. If you're renting, then you could actually deal with 3 separate owners if no single owner has enough points. The down side would be that if you were to get 3 studios, none of them would connect (they could even be on different floors!) and you would not have a common area to gather in durng your down times.

If you were willing to spent the points of a GV, perhaps a 2 bedroom for you and MIL/FIL. You each have your own bedroom, plus the advantage of living room, kitchen and washer/dryer. Then get a studio for SIL/BIL

Maybe your SIL can rent a room from Disney, and you can get a 2BR like jo-jo suggested.

Take some advice from a long time member. Get a 2 bedroom for you and your MIL and FIL. Pass on the 800 number to Disney to the BIL and SIL. It's very likely she will cancel and you will be left holding the bag. That way they can make their own FP and dining reservations because she probably won't want to eat all her meals with you either. Just my two cents.

I second/third the advice on getting a 2 BR and a studio. I also like the idea of SIL/BIL booking the room themselves. That'll make them better appreciate the costs involved. The other option is you guys get a 1 BR for yourselves, and then get two more studios.

Thank you all so so so much! I knew I could count on you ❤️ I'll brief when I have a resolution so you can see who's advice she gave in to... I mean, which idea suited her initial thoughts lol

I'd do the 2BR & studio anyway in this situation. Hopefully she's paying if she's being demanding.

Don't commit to rent from anyone unless you are planning to pay for the room(s) even if someone decides later not to go.

If everyone is contributing to the cost, get the money from the others in advance and MAKE SURE they understand that getting such a good deal means all money for the room(s) is NON-REFUNDABLE and payable in advance. If you don't do that, chances are very good you will be left holding the bag /paying after they back out. (Family members are more prone to do this than friends based on DIS posts over the years).

Good luck!

Hello everyone, I am a new member to the boards. I am planning a trip with my wife, and my in-laws in June 2020. I plan on renting points for a 2BDR at Boardwalk. Given that Toy Story Land just opened and Star Wars will be opening in 2019, I know it is a ways away, but I was wondering if it would be difficult to rent the points? I am planning on using a broker, and assume I should put a request in at the 11 month mark. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe. I would budget for Pool/Garden, not Standard, and reach out to a broker at 12 months.

I would reach out as soon as you have firm dates. With SW opening in 2019, owners are anticipating 2020 to be a very busy year. I would want to get on every list ASAP, especially for BWV or BCV.

agree with others with respect to reaching out in advance of 11 months and budgeting for pricing of a pool/garden view instead of standard.

The other thing I would suggest is looking into renting directly from an owner using the rent boards here.

third option would be to buy your own BWV contract! :-)

I love the third option, but unfortunately I cannot buy my own BWV at this time. Thank you all for the advice

Unfortunately for you, BWV (and BCV) are expected to be in high demand in 2020 for the reasons you stated in your PP. IMO, booking those resorts at 11 months is going to be essential for that entire year and beyond. 2BR villas at BWV are all lock offs (1BR + a studio). Every time a studio gets booked there, another 2BR villa gets reduced to a 1BR villa. And studios are an extremely popular booking at BWV because they can sleep up to 5 guests and require a low number of points compared to other DVC resorts.

Renting there is going to be difficult, unless you decide to go thru a private rental with someone who owns there. I know that personally, my BWV points are like gold. If I do have any extras, there are friends and family members who have already let me know that they are interested in using them when SW:GE opens!

I vote for booking whatever you want.... MINUS the sister (since she cant stand staying with you). Let her know what the dates are and she can go ahead and book whatever her dear heart desires.
